"Me and jumpers don't normally get on - they're either too hot and bulky or too thin and ineffective. However, this jumper is a classic and quite simply...perfect!!
I'm a 42" chest and the 'large' fits me like a kid glove. The quality of finish is peerless and comfort-wise, sheer bliss. In fact my wife reckons I may need to be admitted to hospital for a minor operation to have it removed as I've not stopped wearing it (except in the bath) since it arrived 6 weeks ago."

"I chose to wait awhile before purchasing this sweater. As always, I read all of the reviews for the particular item(s) I am interested in. Barbour clothing already has an excellent reputation in the marketplace. This sweater is no exception. When it arrived, I immediately tried it on. The sizing was perfect! The craftsmanship first-rate. Its merino wool is extremely soft to the touch, actually more like cashmere, even with its ample ribbing. It is definitely heirloom quality and worth every penny of the asking price. I highly recommend it to family, friends, and anyone else who enjoys wearing high-quality clothing at a reasonable price. I am certain this sweater will out-live me! ORVIS and Barbour, both names synonymous with quality! Good job ORVIS you did it again!"

"This sweater is exceptionally crafted and very warm without being overly bulky. The color has a lot of character and will definitely get compliments. Performed well on a chilly day at the sporting clays course.
As with most Barbour apparel, the sizing is accurate. I have a 39" chest and the medium fits perfectly."

"I recently took delivery of this BARBOUR MERINO WOOL V-NECK SPORTING SWEATER from my ORVIS / local affiliate store. My business travels in past years took me through IRELAND to ENGLAND, and points beyond London. The duty-free shops at the Dublin airport were a great shopping place for many, many U.K. produced high end products in particular the Irish wool (lanolin rich) hand knit, wool cable crews, t-necks, vests, and fisherman sweaters. I bought several on various stops at the Irish airport. Yeah, I'm going back quite a few years in the history of air travel to when the planes had to stop at Dublin airport to re-fuel, to discharge passengers, to change crews. I still have the IRISH fisherman cable knit sweaters, still wear them, had to have added suede elbow/lower arm patches, BUT THE BARBOUR MERINO WOOL V-NECK SWEATER has taken the top spot of ALL of the wool sweaters that I've purchased over many years in the U.S. and abroad.
I have no problem that the BARBOUR sweater is made off shore from ENGLAND. It is well made, looks good on wearing it, the loden color is vibrant, clear, definitely classy and uniquely BARBOUR. Regarding size, I suggest ordering a size larger than what you usually order in sweater type garments. I'm 6' 1", about 175-180, in good shape.
Barbour menswear tends to be a bit smaller (?) in fit than other top end menswear brands.
I started buying BARBOUR waxed jackets, coats in the early '70s, and had to jump to much higher sizes than I'd buy in men's outerwear. That's OK. I still have and use the Bedale, Beaufort, and a NORTHUMBRIA, all the zip -in linings, hoods, and I do like to re-wax the outerwear when needed. I still have a BARBOUR wading jacket, and a very early model BARBOUR waxed cotton motorcycle jacket.
Enough about the outerwear. This review is about the BARBOUR MERINO WOOL V-NECK SPORTING SWEATER. I most highly recommend this sweater, and I just know that it will
do well in the cold weather. The dress and casual shirts, cotton t-necks, Montana Morning T Shirts will all bring good notice to the BARBOUR sweater. It is superb in every way.
There are many more new BARBOUR MENSWEAR items on the ORVIS website, and a cruise through the BARBOUR section is worth the time."

"First and foremost this is a beautifully crafted and very functional garment. The sweater has a tight knit and is a bit lighter than anticipated from the picture. However, it is sufficiently warm without being bulky and fits comfortably under a coat . Like all Barbour products the detail and tailoring are top notch and the sweater fits me (L) like it was custom made. One of the nicest things about it is that the fabric shoulder patches are very understated and don't overly draw attention to themselves the way some "commando" sweaters do. The only other comment I can add is that this sweater is no longer sourced exclusively from Scotland. My recent example was produced in Turkey, but, aside from a very expensive cashmere given me for a gift it's probably the finest sweater i own... and certainly my favorite."

"I purchased the commando sweater and didn't wear it for a while. Once the snow flew I tried it out and it was very attractive and warm. I've worn it casually and in the field. It's an excellent sweater and is amazingly warm! It's now my favorite sweater. It can be worn with nice slacks and or in the field. I would highly recommend this excellent article of clothing. "I wanted to pick up one new sweater for this winter. I wanted something really nice, wool, and that had a classic look. When I came across this sweater I knew this was the perfect fit. The price was pretty steep but I liked that it was made in Scotland and the style was exactly what I was looking for. I only hoped that the quality would live up to my expectations. It did. This is a great sweater and you can tell it's quality by inspecting the details on it. The fit was also great. It is generously cut, I'm usually either an XL or a XXL and I chanced it with the XL and it was the right choice and fits perfectly. I would not hesitate to buy this again and it's a good thing for my wallet they don't have it in any other colors."
