Crafted to last a lifetime, these classic waterproof boat shoes are made from the same 7-oz. oil-tanned, water-repellent leather that Gokey uses in their famous Snakeproof Boots. Rubber midsole with self-cleaning Vibram® sole for excellent traction. Waterproof shoes for men in brown. "First, I would like to say that the quality of these boat shoes is excellent. The problem I encountered is that the shoe width is not accurate - just too snug.
When I received the shoes they were tight and stiff, so I wore them around the house, hoping they would loosen up. The shoes did loosen but continued to "bite" into the top of my feet. I don't want to be stuck with a pair of ill fitting shoes so these must be returned."

"I know from the reviews that these are not typical boat shoes-they have more heft and weight. I did not know that they have a distressed finish. It looks like a black finish is applied and rubbed off leaving a look that I just don't like. I've seen this type of thing on many fine brands-this particular shoe is way over done. Personally, I like my stuff to take on a natural aging look. It is a great looking shoe otherwise."

"I've had a lot of boat shoes. Some more expensive and many less. Most do not fit me really well and this is the first one that actually fits. Most are cut a little too short - these come in half sizes that actually work.

"The quality is outstanding, like all of the Gokey footwear. But don't buy these to use on a boat because the Vibram soles are not siped (those little slits invented by Sperry that grip the deck). But, unlike siped soles, these won't grind down when worn on concrete so will last much longer during normal use."

"These shoes are made right. You can tell just by picking up and looking a them. They did not skimp on quality. The leather is high end durable soft leather. the sole is made of the long lasting Vibram you don't find anymore except on the best shoes. In the long run these shoes are the best buy."

"Having read other customer reviews, I decided to order the Gokey boat shoes. I am impressed with the quality and finish of the leather and stitching. All the comments about breakin/ wearin of the shoes are correct. The shoes are stiff upon first putting them on. They felt loose in the heel but after 3 wearings everthing seems to come together, almost like custom made shoes. I did not find any of the cauterized knots in the shoe that others referred to so I presume that the good folks at Gokey have made the needed corrections. They are much heavier than other brands but I have the feeling that they will hold up so well that they will be re-soled over and over and prove to be a great bargain. I am very pleased with the purchase and am pleased also to be supporting Orvis' outstanding animal and environmental preservation programs."

"These are the best looking of all of the many boat shoes that I have tried on, I don't think anything compares. They have a look that can be used from business casual to casual to even church with a blazer.
No doubt they will last a lifetime. Sturdy yet comfortable enough. While the sole isn't a cushy gym shoe or Mephisto style, I'd rather wear these for their slip on convenience and elegant simplicity.
While they aren't insulated for winter, they'll get you around without too much chill, and while not light and airy nor made for the summer, I wear them on the hottest of days without undue discomfort.
I think they might be my favorite clothing item from Orvis and I have dozens of Orvis items.
Two years old and nary a sign of wear...and I've used them through some pretty rough trails. Oh there is a scratch or two, but my feet feel safe and they wear like iron but feel like a glove.
Oh and coming in an exact 12.5 custom size makes them my best fitting shoe.
You'd waste your money to spend $70 on three pairs of dock shoes from Sperry over a decade when these will last you a half a century, guaranteed.
This is a relationship, not just a shoe!"

"The reason that I purchased this shoe was because of my complete satisfaction with the Gokey We tlande upland hunting boot I purchased several years ago. That boot continues to keep my feet dry...no matter what I subject them to.
These shoes are substantial in every way. The look and smell just like my boots.
You will see in other reviews that there is potentially some uncomfortable stitching on the inside at the side of the top of the foot. Upon investigation, it seems as if the wax thread is cauterized on the ends. I clipped this off with a tweezers and razor blade. Now feels like a sturdy slipper. I look forward to years of durable use and dry feet."

"Before I recently bought my first pair of Gokey World's Most Durable Boat Shoes, I studied the reviews on the Orvis site and compared the product with a host of shoes on the market including the most likely contender Russell shoes. I found the Gokey shoes to be the better choice based on appearance and review comments. When I recieved the shoes, I was impressed at how well they are made and how good they felt. I can confirm that I too experienced a little problem with the sewing on the heal of the left shoe (similar to one of the other review comments) -- some thread (nylon or polyester)appeared to have been burned at the end to keep it from unraveling. When wearing the shoe without sox, this sharp tread end dug into my heal and was uncomfortable. The fix was simple though, just clip the thread to remove the sharp point. Took less than a minute. That considered, Gokey wins my vote above any other product on the market and especially those foreign made shoes even if the foreign shoes were given away free -- they're just not worth having. One more thing, the first pair I ordered were too small so I called Orvis. The replacements got to me in just a few days -- unbelievably fast!!!"

"For a shoe that is so pricey I would think there would be better quality control before boxing, The stitching in the heel of the shoe was digging into the back of my foot. Also, sizing was off in width not comfortable.The leather is soft and thick giving the shoe durability to bad it didn't fit properly and the stitching was not inspected. Needless to say I was disappointed and had to go through the expense of shipping them back. So much for online shopping!"

"I have tried many boat shoes but without a doubt this shoe lives up to its billing. It is substantial and comfortable, it truly molds to your foot. I believe you can't beat a pair of Gokey's. I now own 4 pairs of their shoes and boots. The boat shoe is my favorite!"
