Could have saved a lot of money!,
May 16, 2013
By: Neanderthal

"I bought the fully loaded lanyard so I wouldn't have to keep switching my gear around and I absolutely love the thing. It caries almost everything I need for a day onthe river. I liked it so much I have bought and gifted five more. Everyone I have given one to uses them instead of a vest...I could have saved everyone a lot of money!"

Great for quick trips!,
April 22, 2013
By: LukeM
from New Orleans, LA
"I just ordered the fully loaded lanyard and really like it. I tend to do a lot of quick fishing trips when I'm out running errands or for a quick lunch break.
I wound up getting a few different tippet materials and a large version of the fly box that came with it (found on another website.) The one that came with it is fine but I like to carry some poppers with me so the larger version works better for me. I just sat down and tied up a few of the flies I normally use to stock the box up.
It doesn't come with the min-nippers anymore but come with a metal set of nippers which I'm fine with.
So this lanyard has found a home in my truck where I know I can grab it and a rod and head out for a few minutes and not be lugging around a bunch of gear."

All you need,

"We picked one of these lanyards up at the Plymouth Meeting store and found ourselves wondering if a vest was even necessary. The fly box is small but actually just right for a day in the field. Tom & Scott at the store were most helpful."

Quality Item,
December 30, 2012
By: woodguy52

"I wanted to try one of these for a while now, but wasn't sure of how handy or cumbersome it would be. I've tried it and I love it! I'm on the road alot and always have a rod in the back of the Jeep, because you never know when you'll come across a great looking spot. The whole vest and chest waders thing is great, but sometimes I just want to throw on a pair of hip boots and go. That's what this lanyard is perfect for. It has everything I need with plenty of room for more. I bought this one loaded by Orvis, and it's just great. Just like everything Orvis sells, it's the highest quality and is well engineered for comfort and function. Great for fly fishing "on the fly", and I'm especially looking forward to using it in the warmer weather when the vest is just too much."

"I got this for my husband and his brother who are both avid fly fishers. They stated it is a great, convenient and well thought out product that they will keep in their cars "in case" they are near a river and just can't resist the call of the fish."

Great Purchase,

By: klannr

"I purchased this as a gift for my father who is an avid fly fisherman. He constantly reaches into different pockets on his vest while fishing and sometimes loses things in the process. I decided it was time to purchase this lanyard so he has all the tools he needs in one place. He absolutely loves it and says he had been eyeing it for awhile. It's lightweight and keeps everything you need organized and close at hand."

Less is More... Lanyard,
September 5, 2012
By: spitter
from Naperville, IL
"All too often, I see guys and gals loaded down with too much jazz on the water... I used to be one of them... no more!
The Mountain Guide Lanyard is quality built in the USA, a product I would expect Orvis to carry and recommended by my fishing guys at Yorktown...
A lanyard forces me to carry only what I need on the water... a few flies, a tool or two, a few spools of tippet/leader material, plus floatant. Comfortable around my neck with a clip to prevent the lanyard from swinging around as I move...
It's lightweight and adjustable for height on my chest... what more could I want... nothing!
Thanks to Orvis, fishing is better than ever..."

Great product!,

"I have this product and just love it. If you have lower back pain while fishing because of all the equipment you carry in your fishing vest, this is the product for you. Everything you need is on a light lanyard. I just gifted two of these to my hosts of 22 years when I bow hunt and trout fish in the Uintas Mountains of Utah. Based on their reactions, they must be gold lined."

Great Product,
June 5, 2012
By: UnderDog
from Natick, MA
"I received the Mountain River Guide lanyard 3 weeks ago and have been out twice with it. I wish I ordered it 6 years ago! Has everything you need and nothing that you don't. It was nice to leave my vest in the car. The tippet holder and snips were always there when I needed them, and the little clip keeps things in place. The fly holder fits fairly large streamers (barely) as well as smaller flies. Great product."
