Orvis Ratings and Reviews

The Simram, was invented in 1994 while at the Andros Island Bonefishing Tournament after a snorkeling recon of the flats revealed the number of large shrimp prowling the bottom. They were much larger than expected with prominent eyes and antennae. The fly was invented that night with the eyes at the bend of the hook and the next day it crushed the bones catching 28 fish up to 30" long. It has had the same results ever since. Fish it in strip, drop, and strip-strike fashion, or in mid-water on a slow jerky strip. The key to the Simram is the shrimp-like appearance and the constant motion of the materials even when sitting on the bottom. The Simram rarely snags on the bottom as it descends hook up which makes it fantastic to fish on weedy flats. It has since caught permit, snappers, tarpon, and stripers on the flats of the Cape and Vineyard. Size 4,6.
