Le Chameau Leather-Lined Men's Chasseur
Worn by European royalty and demanding gamekeepers alike. Made of natural latex, which is strong, durable, supple, and waterproof. These hunting and sporting clays boots are made by hand as they have been since 1927. Lined with full-grain leather so they will never leave you clammy. Leg is full-length zipper-gusseted. Soft, aggressive tread grips on most surfaces. In olive. Boot height approximately 17" and weighs 3 lbs. in men's size 10. France. Men's sizes: 42(9), 43(10), 44(11), 45(11½), 46(12), 47(13), 49(14). In D width.

"If you're going to invest in a pair of boots for walking, hunting, or general use invest the extra money and get these! I've spent hours hunting in mine and am always surprised at how comfortable they are. The leather lining is super soft and still allows for good breathability. The construction on these is vastly superior to ANYTHING. I love the full length zipper on the side which allows me to get them on/off easily and also air them out a little if I'm sitting down. Since getting them several friends have made the jump to them also and have been raving about them ever since! I definitely recommend in investing in the boot bag to store them when not in use and keep the rubber in top shop."

"I really like style and fit. Really want these boots to work. Can't get zipper to work. Sending them back. Also, what is the point of the strap at the top of boot if it is not adjustable?"

We thank you for the feedback regarding this product. In regards to the zipper, Le Chameau has long recognized that it takes time to break in their zippers properly. Using white candle wax or paraffin is a simple remedy. Once the zippers are broken in, the strap is there to keep the zippers from falling down or becoming undone. "I have wanted a pair of such boots for at least two decades but did not know how to find it.; now I really needed it and made many cursory but unsuccessful searches. I should have known that it would end up with Orvis being the only source of such a superbly made item. "As a guide at an Orvis Endorsed Lodge, I would say that 40% of the guests wore Le Chameau boots. I have for a decade or more. I am active in NAVHDA, and more and more bird hunters are showing up in them. Two frequent comments are:

"I must say that of the boots I've owned these stood out. The leather lining actually makes them easy to get into. I find sliding a dry sock into rubber boots offers a lot of friction usually but these are excellent and comfortable even after walking all day. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good pair of wellies.
However, I am a rather large guy. I'm fit but large, I played tide end, I have large calves. I could not zip up the boot because my calves were simply too big. Still they are great boots even if they don't fit you and they would fit most people."

"Used these boots for 2 years and yes they are the most comfortable boots ever worn. My feet do not sweet in them and will never wear anything but these boots. Like everyone else $500 bucks for a pair of rubber boots???? Definitely worth it!!!!!!!
On my last day of Pheasant season the zipper tab broke. I contacted Orvis and explained the situation. Orvis didn't bat an eye, they sent me a UPS label for free shipping for exchange.
All in all excellent boots sold by an excellent retail store.

"Boots are somewhat stiff and hard on the sole but does limber up well when worn. leather feels good. my problem is that the thin rubber flap that keeps water out of the zipper cracked after 2 years. no way to fix and you can't send them back to france. so now they are not waterpoof and the crack rubs a hole in my ankle. needs a better design."

"That was my wife's advice, after I lamented for what seemed like months over the purchase of these boots. They're not any more expensive than a pair of dress shoes, so while pricey for rubber boots, they're not that far over the top. In the end, while it took me a while to decide, I couldn't be happier with these boots!
They are wonderfully comfortable, conforming to my foot after the first few outings, without the sweaty/clammy feet I've experienced with other wellies. They are extremely durable in the field and by the lake, taking on everything I've thrown at them so far (as well as handling a muddy, flooded back yard). I had dry and warm feet, just as expected.
The zipper was a little tough to get going, even after lubricating the zipper with the silicone spray. I am confident that will get better with time and additional treatment.
Bottom line - listen to my wife... you'll thank her (and then I'll really never hear the end of it.)"

"These boots are extremely high quality and much more than I expected. The catalog pictures do not convey the true nature of this boot.
The thing that dampened my new boot experience was that that instructions say to lubricate the zipper with the Chameau booty spray before you unzip them. If I had known I would have ordered some so I could be ready."

"I have been looking at these Wellington's for years, finding it difficult to justify the price. Finally, after a good year, I decided to purchase the boots & ordered my typical shoe size. The boots arrived not in the manufacturer's box, but a plain brown Orvis shipping box. Strange for a $429 pair of boots. The boots were too large and had to be returned for the next smaller size.
The replacement boots arrived, this time in the manufacturers box, with all documentation and spray bottle of surface treatment. It was upsetting that all this was missing from the original shipment, which was the oversite of Orvis. The smaller size fit well and immediately went into use, with excellent results."

"I bought my first pair many, many years ago from Orvis. Several friends were wearing them. I had to have a pair. Most comfortable boot or shoe I have ever put on my feet. And I wear them 50-60 days a year, mostly hunting. My feet stay warm down to the teens. And don't sweat either. I loved them so much, I convinced my daughter to fill a warehouse with them.
