Super Strong Nylon Tippet in 30- and 100-meter spools

Use lighter fly fishing tippets to fool more fish without worrying about breaking them off because the strength of knotted Super Strong™ Tippet is higher than any other nylon material and much greater than that of fluorocarbon tippet materials. Line retainer on each spool. Fly fishing tippets available: in 8X, 7X, 6X, 5X, 4X, 3X, 2X, 1X, 0X, .012, .013, .015, .017, .019, .021, .023, and .025.

The tops of Tippet,
May 9, 2013
By: Chuch
from Somerset, Pa.
"I think Orvis tippet is the best. Like any tippet, if it gets old it may crinkle and weaken a bit but that's not really the tippet's fault. It's all I use."

"Words are fine but a photo is better. I used the orvis 6x tippet to land this 19 inch brown in central Pennsylvania. She shook like a bobble head but the tippet held and bull dogged like an old tire. The light tippet held an energetic fish with out trouble. That is more than good enough for me."

Good staple stuff,

By: RoyalMoscateer

"I like to keep a clean (knot-free) tippet on my leaders, so I picked up the 100 meter spool. The line seems to work well, and with the round elastic band around the spool, it's easy to use."

"Orvis Super Strong nylon tippet material is superb. With 4x and 5x strengths, I landed several 15" to 18" cutthroats on the Green River below Fontenelle Reservoir in west-central Wyoming last week. I never lost a fish to a tippet break or to a knot failure. Great material at a good sale price, shipped quickly and received well before leaving on the trip."

Dependable tippet material,
August 28, 2012
By: RunningWater
from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
"While fluorocarbon tippet might be more UV resistant, I've always depended on Super Strong. It's tough, supple, and strong for its diameter. I know I'm supposed to replace each year's tippet spool with a fresh one, but I don't, mainly because I've come to rely on Super Strong, even if it's past its code date. I'm not the most accurate caster, and I bet like you, I catch my fair share of willows and alder branches....I can tug on Super Strong, and more often than not, it holds up well enough to retrieve my flies from errant casts!"

My 50A Just Loves Super Strong,
August 6, 2012
By: sage47fish
from La Grande, OR
"My Orvis 50A comes out of the bag when fly fishing is slow. Never had much luck finding good line for this reel - too stiff & line diameter too large. That was until I tried 100 meters of Super Strong Tippet! The little 50A just zings the line out & best of all, I don't get "birds nests"!"

Strong Tippets for Big Trout,
July 11, 2012
By: NZer
from Hawkes Bay, NZ
"Have been using this tippet material for several years and find the strength per diameter a definite plus. Some problems with knots breaking at fly on large fish, should probably be checking my knots more. Product as far as I know not available in NZ, no Orvis dealers in one of the best trout fishing places in the world?"

Actual measurement,
June 8, 2012
By: Wermy
"I measured the diameter of the 5X Super strong and it is actually .005 which would be 6X
I then measured th 6X and it is .0045 which would make it 6.5X
I used 2 different top quality micrometers. I do not know if I should be happy or not. it fished just fine."

May 15, 2012
By: softhackleguide

"I've been using Orive Super Strong leaders and tippet material for years. I have tried others and end up giving them to people I don't really like. I get good turnover on the Super Strong leaders in all lengths and good knot and tippet strength when I have to add Super Strong tippet. This is good stuff."

Great tippet, bad NEW package,
May 10, 2012
By: Robert1
"I use your tippet material because I think it is the BEST! However, the new larger plastic spool just doesn't make sense. Here's why:
1.Doesn't fit in small pockets like ALL of the other brands.
2.Wastes plastic (and the environment).
3.Takes up too much room ....two in one pocket anymore, forget it.
"
