Comfortable and Great Fit,
December 30, 2012
By: Rnighthawk
from Maryland
"Received shirt for Christmas. Very pleased with fit and comfort. I wear a size large (42 regular jacket and 17 X 34 inch shirt) and the fit is spot - on. I like the look, texture, and warmth of wool without the itching."

"Really nice shirt !!! Bought 2 as Christmas presents. Size was true to fit. Gave it 4 stars not on the quality but in the picture it looked as if the herringbone was brown when in fact it is green."

My Son's Favourite Shirt!,
December 4, 2012
By: JustMyView
from Toronto Canada
"Of all the shirts, Orvis and others, that I've bought my son over the years, this is his favourite. In fact he asked me for one more for Xmas. My son is a very casual guy. He likes these shirts' extra weight and cosy feel. They are his favourite to change into when he gets home from work. They are extra warm and being all cotton, wash and wear well."

"Have ordered several items from Orvis before. Have been happy with all of them. My size is between a Med. and Lg. A Med. from Orvis fits me perfectly. I wore this shirt to the theatre this weekend and received compliments on it and was asked where I got it."

Pretty great,
May 14, 2012
By: afterdavid

"This came waaaaay on the big side, but I washed it in hot water and dried it on warm and it shrunk down to a great fit. I'm one of those types that likes to have a few quality things that I wear down to the bone before I replace and this shirt definitely fits the bill. Sturdy, thick, and good looking. Also, I got it on sale which was great, because I never would have paid the $80 or so bucks it costed normally."

High Quality Fall Shirt,
May 10, 2012
By: alabamadmd

"Definitely more of a green than a beige. Thicker shirt, great for cooler weather. Classy, subtle patterning is great for pairing with all types of sportcoats, vests, etc. If you're debating between a Med and Large, I would go Med."

A Flannel Shirt (in Disguise),
May 4, 2012
By: Trainwreck
from Greenville, SC
"I was a little surprised to find that this shirt is actually a flannel shirt from the 1970s, disguised in a pleasant herringbone pattern. Like flannel, it has a furry feel, as if it was made by compressing cotton really hard, and appears to be amorphous and lacking in any sort of weave. I get the feeling that if I pull on it hard enough (or try to soak up a spill with it), it will dissolve like a paper towel. It ISN'T made of the standard button-down shirt material stuff -broadcloth, or whatever
The arms are too short. This I determined by extending my arms straight in front of me at which point the fabric to pulled around my back causing the cuffs to run up my arms (like plumbers butt, except on your wrists). This is a trick I use to identify cheap shirts.
Anyway, I didn't like the shirt and felt that it wasn't worth the 50% off price I paid for it."

"Only one thing -- as with all modern shirts, it needs one more inch of shirttail in front and back, and another button at the bottom."

"Nice shirt, but who is doing the sizing. I usually where a medium or large size shirt. Based on a previously purchase from Orvis, I purchased a medium and it was way too large."

"Excedllent product. Runs a litle on the large side - Washes and dries like a dream. My son loves it!
All Orvis shirts are very well made and those that can be laundered - there are no surprises. I shop and purchase Orvis items with complete confidence.

great shirt, wrong color,
November 7, 2011
By: dunns
from Goochland, Virginia
"The color of the herringbone cotton shirt in the magazine lead me to believe it was a gray herrinbone, when i recieved the shirt it was more brown than gray and didn't fit my needs. However, the shirt was well constructed and a great weight for cold weather wear.
The great thing about purchasing from Orvis is there great customer sevice when handling returns. It gives me the comfort of knowing they take care of their customer when selling or accepting a return."
