Built from tightly woven pure cotton, our midweight Bush Poplin short-sleeve safari shirt breathes well and wicks dust and moisture to keep you dry and cool on your adventures. Made to take on outdoor use, poplin has been standard issue in expedition and safari clothing for nearly a century, and was used widely in the field during WWII. Two big button-through pleated pockets, working epaulets for binocular or camera straps, and roll-up sleeve tabs. Short-sleeve safari shirt in pure cotton. Washable. Imported.Sizes: S(34-36), M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52).

"Just received this shirt two days ago, at first look the fabric looked a little heavy for a short sleeve shirt. But, after wearing it to work today it looked and felt great.
I have two similar shirts from a few years ago, when Orvis offered the shirt with a Buzz-off treatment.

"I recently purchased both the short sleeved and a long sleeved version of the Orvis Bush shirt and have worn them every opportunity I get. The styling of a classic officers shirt combined with the durable and utilitarian heavy cotton fabric makes for an incredible shirt that is sure to please. The roll up sleeves on the long sleeve version allow you to roll those sleeves and ensure they stay there when its warm, and let them down for cool evenings. There is a reason that for decades, thousands of travelers have worn this versatile style of shirt, as the temperature transitions from sweltering heat to cold evenings. Absolutely one of the most versatile shirts in my wardrobe.
On the subject of sizing, I typically wear a 42, have a 36" waist, 6' tall, and am about 185lbs, and have a fairly athletic build. The Large was entirely too big for me, but the Medium fit perfectly."

"The wife bought me this shirt for an upcoming safari in South Africa. I liked it so much that I ordered two more in the long-sleeved version. I wear this shirt all the time. It's kinda stiff, but I imagine that keeps it from ripping easily in the bush. Very pleased with the purchase."

"This is a comfortable and great looking shirt right out of the box, and it improves with every wash. Works well ironed or straight from the dryer. I just returned from Australia, and received numerous positive comments about the shirt. I enjoy wearing it very much."

"Great shirt , very good quality, solid material and stitching, that I could even pass down to my son...but that won't happen...he will have to get his own. I will have to add locks to my closet and keep an accurate inventory of all my Orvis clothing. This shirt will last years."

"I bought this shirt because I needed some short sleeve, button down shirts that were casual but could still be worn to work. I also really liked the color and 2 pocket design. The fabric is a little heavier than I thought it would be but overall a great shirt and a satisfied customer."

"I have several of the long sleeve version, and now this short sleeve one, and I have been extremely satisfied with them. They have become my favorite shirt. The material, fit, and craftsmanship are excellent. The material is a little heavier than I would prefer for mid-summer in the South (it's over 100 degrees here in GA now), but these shirts wear and hold up much better than the lighter-weight linen version. The seams, folds, placket and button holes do NOT launder well on the linen version; the faux sleeve roll does not stay folded and the buttons come undone because the holes are too big and lose their shape after just one washing. This cotton version is definitely the one to get. The cotton shirt is also cut much bigger than the linen one; I had to go up a size for the linen shirt."

"The shirt is of excellent quality and workmanship and the fit is good for me save that as a tall athletic-type built person, I would prefer longer sleeves of 1.5 to inches so as NOT to have what I refer to as chicken with clipped wings look."

"Recd. the Orvis new catalog a month ago and went right to the San Francisco store on Sutter St. None in stock at the time so ordered from catalog hot line, recd. in about a week. Love the shirt, fit and feel and how it will work for me on my Safari to Botswawa next week, also purchase some great clothes in store that will take with me, shorts, quick drying underwear, silk/linen jacket, several African print shirts. Great!!

"This shirt is extremely well made and looks great. You can iron it to get that clean pressed look, but since I don't press my clothes, I wear it right out of the drier wrinkled. The nice thing is that it looks great either way. It a wonderful spring shirt, you don't have to wear a sweater with it. The quality of the cloth is top notch, and I can tell that it will look better as it gets older."

"I had to take out about 3-4 inches underneath the arms, but after that it's been fantastic. Durable, obviously well-made, and versatile for traveling. I'm 5'10", 170, and i could fit a thick pillow in the belly area (medium shirt size). Because of sleeve and chest dimensions, i couldn't have gotten the small. Not complaining, though, i love the shirt."
