"I purchased the large for our smallish female Great Dane. She loves the bolstered edges and being able to sprawl out or curl up as she chooses. I can easily fit on this bed with her and so it would be large enough for two big friendly dogs.
The bed is very well made. I am a novice seamstress and think that the man hours put into me trying to construct this bed, as well as the expensive material, would cost me much more than the purchase price.
I chose the blue to match my decor, but it has a barley colour running through it that makes it look slightly dirty. I don't mind though, as other dog bed makes would be in less stylistic materials."

"We purchased this bed about three years ago for our then eight year old rescued Newfoundland/border collie.
It is now used by our ten month old 130 lb (and growing) Newfoundland puppy. I always knew it was an awesome bed, but this weekend my grand-dog was visiting and decided to lift his leg on the bed. We immediately disassembled it and I was amazed how easily it came apart and went back together, washed up like new and even had a waterproof protector on it which completely saved the pad. After all these years it has held its form and still looks like new! Smokey can totally stretch out comfortably on his bed. We love Orvis and their dog products!"

"I initially bought the Medium for my 58lb lab but returned it for the Large when I found it only big enough for her when she was curled up. Like other reviewers have noted, the Large is HUGE! It can fit both of my 60lb dogs but they don't like to snuggle so right now it isn't used as much as I had hoped. The younger dog is more dominant so my 10 yr old dog (the intended user) hasn't enjoyed it. On a plus note, the kids LOVE to snuggle with the dog on the bed. A size in between the M and L would be perfect for labs."

"My 1 year old Golden was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia and my Vet recommended this bed. He needed somewhere to relax that would absorb his weight and cushion his poor little elbows. He absolutely adores the bed and brought all of his toys on it. He prefers it now to my sleep number ;)
And, it is absolutely beautiful to look at! He is 70lbs and the large is perfect with extra room to lay out. A great investment."

"Our 75 lb. black lab just turned 6 so we decided to invest in a nice bed. Unfortunately the available sizes just didn't work. The large was way too big. It looked ridiculous in our bedroom. Aside from having to rearrange furniture the dog would have had more sleeping square footage than my wife and I. We returned it and got the medium. It turned out to be too small. I guess we are going to end up with the "Dream Lounger" which is the version with no bolster. For some reason they seem to be more appropriately sized. Regardless of the sizing problems the bed seems to be well made."

"I bought this in the medium size so my dogs could share it. I have five small dogs (2 malteses, a yorkie, a shihtzu, and a mixed breed), and three of them fit comfortably at a time. They LOVE it and cozy up to each other! It is the perfect bed for my older two especially, since one of them is arthritic. I probably could've gotten the large size, but I was worried it'd be too big. This is the BEST dog bed I've ever bought, and to think I kept stalling on this purchase! The memory foam is very thick, the construction is superb, and the quality of the cover is incredible! It is work every penny, and I'm going to save up to buy them another one for the living room. I will most likely never buy another brand dog bed! Thanks so much!"

Orvis Memory Foam vs. Tempur-Pedic Foam,

"Five months ago as a splurge we purchased this bed but with the Tempur-Pedic foam instead of the Orvis foam. We read all the reviews of both and came away with the idea that the Orvis foam was way too soft; the Tempur-Pedic foam was firmer, but many dogs liked it and the foam was unlikely to wear out prematurely. So, we went with the Tempur-Pedic Deep Dish bed at first, in the large size, because the inside dimensions of the medium bed were too small.
We have three Border Collies, which all weigh 45 - 50 lbs. Well, the bed was not a big hit. Over the course of the five months, the dogs used the bed occasionally but only after I put a thin, softer bed over it. No one stayed in it long. During cold weather it is even firmer. If I laid in it, it gave me great support, but it was too hard for medium-sized dogs. So finally we got this bed with the Orvis Memory Foam. The foam is a lot softer. The dogs like it much much better, especially my male dog which loves the bolsters. I wonder about how the foam will hold up, but at least the dogs use it now! The bottom line I came away with is that the Tempur-Pedic bed will only work for a dog that is really big and heavy and prefers a really firm surface to sleep on. My other comment about the Deep Dish beds in general is that Orvis needs a size in between medium and large for dogs like mine. It would also be handy to have the inside dimensions of the beds listed in the description as well, instead of having to contact Orvis to have them look it up."

"We bought one for our older GSD and loved it so much we bought another for our younger GSD. They both LOVE these beds. They're very resilient (both are scratchers/ nesters) and seem to be stain resistant too (no stains thus far). The Multi-Brown color is good for all the fur and dirt we have - I'd highly recommend that color if your dogs shed like ours).
These are solid products that both we and our dogs love."

"I purchased the large size bed for my 93 pound Labrador Retriever. It fits him perfectly, and although it is large, it gives him room to sleep spread out, which he prefers. Also, he loves the raised sides to support his head. It is very pretty and very durable. I was hesitant to purchase it due to the price, but I can honestly say that it was worth every penny! The mattress is very supportive which will be important as he ages. He also prefers this bed to our new couch! An unexpected bonus! I would recommend this bed to anyone with a larger Lab."

"We were originally going to buy this bed for our 80 pound, 6 year old lab, but at the last minute, we decided to get the XL size to accommodate our 20 pound, 4 year old beagle mix. The bed is *massive* and very pricey but both dogs love it and cuddle up against each other when they sleep -- something they never did before. They both also like the raised sides: the beagle likes to curl his whole body against it while the lab likes to prop his head against it, like a pillow. If you have the floor-space and the extra cash, we highly recommend this bed."

"The memory foam is ideal for a dog bed. Unlike other fills, the memory foam does not flatten out or become lumpy. The bolster around the edge is fantastic! My dogs love this bed because of the bolster! They nestle right in. I purchased this bolster design to protect my leather couch since the dogs' previous bed was next to the couch. The bolster keep them from scratching the side of the couch."

"I purchased this dog bed for my 11 year old Great dane. She is arthritic and at times incontinent. She loves it so much that after washing she tries to get back on it while I am trying to put the cover back on. We had a little issue with the zipper and they sent me a new one after a 30 second phone call. Best customer service ever! Thank you Orvis it is worth every penny."
