Orvis Dog's Nest® with Spun-Polyester Fill

Orvis Dog's Nests now feature luxurious microfiber covers. This upholstery-grade dog bed fabric—originally developed for the furniture industry—is built to take a beating, and look great doing it. It's also anti-static and velvety smooth with deep, rich colors. We use only the highest quality microfiber in our round dog bed for incredible comfort and long-lasting durability. Our supreme spun-polyester fill resembles a traditional pillow; it's completely silent, retains its loft, and can be easily machine washed. Round dog bed dimensions are approximate.

Nesting dogs,

"Our two spaniels love the round shape and because the beds are so light they can drag them around the kitchen to find the warmest, and usually most awkward spot.
The material is very cosy and easy to wash but I have found that the filling tends to compact down very considerably in the centre"

"My Puppy loves her new orvis bed but im a wee bit disappointed in the quality control. the top of the bed and half the side are a lighter colour than the other half of the side of the bed! I dont know if you can see from the pic i posted, also the tartan round the sides dont match up ie the brown coulor and red colour strips just stop and dont join up. Its def a case of they have patched a darker cloth on to the lighter cloth to finnish the bed off. looks odd for the money-but my Cairn terrier loves it!"

color distortion,
January 30, 2013
By: Chicagogirl90

"Disappointed with the shown fabric colors within the catalog and website. I ordered the red tartan and the bed showed up looking dark burgundy. The company should provide sample fabric swatches to be mailed if requested. I called to exchange for a different cover color and they wanted to charge my card again...too much hassle!!! Overall a quality made dog bed, but be prepared for a surprise color to show up at your door."

lofy polyester fill isn't lofty,

"I ordered 3 large dog nests about a month ago to replace my xtra large nests. (Downsized from great danes to boxers). The older bed liners were so much loftier than the new ones, I am ordering a second set of liners to give the dogs back the lofty beds they are used to. Hopefully having 2 liners in each bed will make the dogs happy once again!"

Greatest dog beds!,

"Have been ordering the round dog nest/bed for 30 years!
My dogs love them and they last a long long time.
I change out the stuffing yearly so it stays lofty.
The outer covering barely shows any wear after 7 years!
Would highly recommend this bed.

"I trusted the reviews on Orvis and a Rescue Grey manual in ordering this before Salvo ever came home. Sal's been a little high-strung exploring this new bungalow "kennel" today, yet after napping in his crate while I ran some errands this evening, he knew exactly what this big saucer is for! Glad to see him relax after a big day! In front of the fireplace or in front of my bed, I hope he still sees the Nest as a source of calm and comfort!"

not enough filling,
November 29, 2012
By: elliegracie

"I purchased a large one in the herring bone fabric. It's a durable fabric and well made BUT there is hardly enough filling and my 2 beagles barely ever lie in this bed because it's like they are laying on the floor. The picture is deceptive and makes you think it's very fluffy, but it's not at all. It's maybe filled 1/3 the way. I bought this thinking it would keep them off my couch, but they will choose the couch and even cheaper pet peds over this cushion because it's just not comfy. I'm really disappointed that you can't even add more filling to the inside cushion."

NOT worth the money!,
October 29, 2012
By: croll326
"I purchased this bed a little while ago for my 30 lb. mix. He does love this bed as he can circle around and snuggle right down. I am the one not happy because the fleece cover material is not starting to come off of the top cover. I had an online chat with a customer service rep and was told that this was normal because this material isn't woven as tight. I was then given a link so I could buy a new $70 cover when the SAME bed (different cover options) was on sale for $59!!! I was offered free shipping but in the bad economy today every company has free shipping.
My overall experience with the bed and customer service stink however my dog does love it.
I will be looking to other premium brand beds in the very near future or getting less expensive beds from local pet stores.

"When we adopted Sofia, a retired Racing Greyhound in July 2000, I ordered her an Orvis Dog Nest. When we adopted Beau (also a retired Greyhound) 3 years later, he got one too. Now, almost 11 years later, Sofia still is using this bed, and so is Beau. They LOVE theses beds.
Sofia is a "digger" so she has worn out two inner liners, but the cover is still is great shape. So, if you have an active dog, get the tough chew version. Now that they are getting older, I recently ordered them an extra bed for downstairs TV time, and I know they will be super happy about that.

Forgotten !,
January 25, 2012
By: Scud50
"I originally ordered the dog bed on the 5 December, told my excited daughter about her pet getting a great new bed. But no delivery, no bed. Contacted Orvis just before Xmas to be told "That version is not available so no bed!". Had a hard time negotiating a new version for my now suffering dog who has joint problems. Not impressed by the "service"."

Best beds,
December 21, 2011
By: BlackDogBee
"I purchased 2 of these beds for my dog when he was 1 - that was 10 years ago! They are still in excellent shape and my dog LOVED them. The covers were washed frequently and they held up to "fluffing" over the years as well. He was not a chewer so I can't attest to how it would have held up to that... but overall, I think the investment was well worth it for getting 10 years out of those beds. My dog passed away this last fall and his embroidered name will make a wonderful keepsake. I will be ordering a new bed for our new puppy - he's a "fluffer" too!"

On the fence,
November 25, 2011
By: oklahomadogs

"I am on the fence on this one. I have been buying Orvis dog beds for years. I started buying five tough chews for my dogs when they were puppys, I later bought 5 replacement covers for them, and recently now that they are elderly, I bought 5 of these beds. I love the cover, I got the brown tweed and it is perfect at hiding dog hair! Very sturdy and well made. BUT on the other hand although it came quite full and fluffy and they loved them, now they are flat in the center and the filling is all bunched up in spots and it won't shake out and refill the bed fully. I am so sad for my old dogs whom I thought were lying on nice comfy beds. So for the cover I'd say great but the insides??? Orvis, I am really disappointed and you need to do better than this to keep your reputation and me as a customer."

Great cover, no so the bed,
October 1, 2011
By: Sugrs
"I purchased several of these beds for my dogs and love the microfiber covers. They launder well and dry quickly. The problem is the actual bed. The polyester shifts too readily so it doesn't hold it 's shape. I stuck it in the dryer to fluff for about 10 minutes and the liner cover melted leaving a large hole. I will continued use the covers but no more beds . . ."

Terrier Heaven!,
September 8, 2011
By: OfficerFlossie
"I bought a small herringbone bed for my mid-size terrier; she already had a older bead-filled Orvis bed that I was very pleased with, but she absolutely adores this one. I'm fussy, and at first I was a bit put off by the microfibre cover (the older one was a weave) but actually, the printed fabric looks good, is stronger and very soft. The whole bed is really well made and the fill seems to work just right for curling up or sprawling. Pricey but definitely worth it."

Bring Back the Cotton Canvas Cover,

"I have 2 small round Orvis dog beds for my two 17-pound Westies. One be is "The Original Dog Nest" the cover of which is cotton canvas. I love this bed. It stays CLEAN. Dog hair, lint and other floor stuff does not stick to it. Perfect for tossing into the car for a trip. The second bed has a soft cover that is always DIRTY. Everything sticks to it. Both beds are showing wear after several years and I was planning on replacing them with cotton canvas covers. Much to my horror, I have learned that the cotton canvas cover is no longer being used by Orvis! I am very disapointed and will not be ordering new beds after all. Sigh. Please bring back the cotton canvas dog bed cover!"

Love this simple, classic bed,
August 2, 2011
By: Weese

"When this bed arrived I fell in love with the color, we got the field tartan in a large. The size is good, but definitely would not want anything smaller for our retriever. She did not like it at first, I think the factory smell and the poofyness turned her off. I had to wash the cover before she would get on it, I also sat on it so it would flatten out a bit. Once those were done she was a changed dog and LOVES her bed. The color stayed true after the washings. It also very durable, no rips or tears, but she is not a chewer. Has also not gone much flatter, still has some cushion to it. I actually got a second one, the rectangle one, to go in her kennel, it fit perfectly and she sleeps better too. Great buy!"
