"Only had the bed for 1 day and the dog loves it. We have a 67lb GSP and ordered the medium based on other comments. I think the size is just fine, he mostly curls up to sleep and very rarely stretches all the way out to sleep, so the medium is plenty big enough for him. It is not as large as the picture looks or as firm but he seems to think it's heavenly!"

"I had purchased a different Orvis dog bed a couple years back, but the time had come to upgrade. After reading through reviews of several different Orvis beds, I decided on the Lounger Deep Dish bed for my pooch. She loves sleeping with her head on a pillow, so I knew she'd appreciate the bolsters on this design. The bed is very visually appealing and she fell in love with it immediately - she finally slept in her own bed (every night) in the first time in months! Unfortunately, the middle cushion has flattened out significantly after just a couple months of use, so she's not as apt to lay in it anymore. Hopefully we can get some more filling for it - I would have given it 5 stars otherwise!"

"My Great Dane loves this bed. I agree with other reviewers, it needs more stuffing. As Great Dane owners, we have had lots of beds that need more stuffing. This bed was to replace another "normal" bolster bed, so I stole the stuffing from that bed and used it in this bed. I would estimate that I ended up with between 2 and 3 times more stuffing. It has ended up being his most favorite bed ever. I would recommend it to other big dog owners, but you need to add stuffing to it to make it look like the pictures and make your dog happy. We will be buying a second one, plus stuffing."

"Although I love the high sides and back of the lounger, the inner cushion is NOT very 'cushiony'. I ended up putting another dog bed under it. Additionally, I did not realize that there was a separate cushion insert in the center. Of course, my 6 month old puppy chewed and broke the zipper on the insert. I tried to order a replacement for just the insert but they do not sell them. I would have to spend another $140.00 for the entire replacement cover. This, despite the fact, Orvis sell the replace insert cushion. I can order an entire new bed from another company for $40.00 more and it has a protected zipper. This was my first and last order from Orvis."

"Very nice bed however it does not look like the picture shown right out of the box. Once I added more stuffing though, it looks pretty much like the picture. Buyer beware, ask for additional stuffing when purchasing this bed!"

"I bought this bed for my dog Dozer. He is an 80 lb American Bulldog and has gone through many beds in the past because of his size. We received the bed last week and so far Dozer loves it!!! The quality is great and the size is perfect for him."

"Rosco has two Westie brothers that always take his bed away from him, so I bought this one for him to sleep in. He loved it from the start! He snuggles in and actually growls if his brothers try to get into it with him! I should mention that Rosco is a big boxer, but he's really just a big baby! He really likes how it comforms to his body and helps to keep him warm during the winter! I can tell that he just loves this bed!"

"I love the high sides on this bed -- but I found the "cushion" to hardly have any cushioning at all! Luckily, I had a pretty worn out rectangular bed that fit down inside the "deep dish" and I placed the pad on top of it. Works perfectly now. Still plenty of depth from the high bolster even with the extra bed placed in first. My dog loves this bed. We sleep with the window open at night during the winter and she just burrows her little head in to the sides of the bed and it keeps her little ears warm. Caution: the LARGE is a pretty large bed. Our greyhound is 68 lbs. and I like that she can fit her whole body along the back bolster."

"This was such a great purchase for our 3 year old Boxer. The quality of the bed is fantastic and it looks great in our family room. Our boxer is 69 lbs and we originally purchased the large bed but ended up returning it for the medium size since the large was way too big. I would encourage any dog owner to purchase this bed but would advise maybe calling Orvis if you are questioning the right size for your dog."

"After reading other reviews I was hesitant about purchasing the Lounger Deep Dish Dog Bed. I talked to a product specialist about my concerns and ultimately decided to give it a try.
The reviews were spot on. Honestly, I love the outer part of the dog bed, but the pillow insert that goes in the center where the dogs lays just goes flat. I mean totally flat to the floor when my black labs lay down in it.
The product specialist says that they can only fill the insert a certain amount because otherwise the zipper could bust. Well, that is not true at all. There is SO much more room in the pillow insert to add more polyester fill and it would not come even close to busting the zipper.
I am going to ask for them to send some more fill for me to add myself. That is all it needs and it would be the best dog bed out there in my opinion.
So, if you are going to purchase, just beware. It is a lot of money to spend to not get exactly what you want. The picture in the catalog really cannot be true. That dog would go straight to the floor based on the little fill in my inserts."

"This bed is equivalent to the regular bolster bed. This one looks elevated off the floor at least 4". the insert lays directly on the floor."

"I was so excited to get this bed for my extra large Rottie/Shep mix dog (101 lbs) who has hip issues as it looked so comfortable in the photo with the chocolate lab laying in it. I thought it would keep my pup off the hard floor. After two days of my dog (who LOVES his bed) not wanting to lay in it, I laid in it and was so disappointed to feel nothing but hardwoord floors under it - and I don't weigh much more than my dog. The pillow is too small and doesn't have nearly enough padding in it. When I woke up this morning, my dog was laying on the carpet next to this bed. Sadly, we will have to return this and look for another option for him. I was so disappointed. We are accustomed to quality Orvis products and don't mind spending a little more in exchange for the quality. This bed did not meet my expectations, however."

"Agree with the other reviews: the cushion is very flimsy and provides little support. My wheaton will not lay in it. Also, purchased the tan color, expecting something with a brown/beige tint, but the color is similar to a celery green."

"As I look at the picture of the Lounger Deep Dish, they must have bought foam to put underneath the bed to make it look good. When I opened the box I was disappointed in the cushion. It is very thin. I went to the craft store and put foam underneath for more support. The outside cushions are good, but the inner part is not. I wouldn't purchase these again. Use think foam for beds!"

"I bought the Ultimate Lounger bed for our 10mo. Am Staff: it got here in a couple of days and the moment she saw it it was love at first sight! Great quality, sturdy construction, strong seams/zippers, quality easy-clean fabric...can't say enough good things about it. Wonderful purchase, will definitely buy from Orvis again."

"I purchased this for my two dogs to share. While it definitely looks nice in my apartment, the photo is disingenuous with regards to padding. The bolsters are amply plush, but the middle is just one thin cushion which is easily displaced, leaving nothing but fabric between your dog and the floor. I padded the bottom of mine with some old memory foam and now it looks like the bed in the photo. For the price (and given the look of the photo that sold me on this bed in the first place) I don't think I should have had to fix this bed straight out of the box to make it into what I thought I had ordered."

"My cats are cold all the time. They are fussy where they sleep. I got the large size bed for them to snuggle together in front of the radiator.
As soon as I opened the box, they knew they love it. So there was no effort for me to persuade them to go onto the bed.
I can see how some customers thought that the inside cushion was slightly "thin". I have over come it with extra sheepa fleece.
The material is lovely, well made bed overall.
The best pet beds ever."

"Ordered the medium for our English Sprnger and English Cocker. They just love this bed. The take their treats back to it and roll on their backs in joy! During the day it sits in front of the storm door so they can snooze and watch the world go by!
Tried to order a replacement cover and can't get that personalized like the original bed. Wish we could add that to the replacement cover since the padding and bolsters are in great shape after a year."

"Overall, this is a nice dog bed and my Chocolate Lab certainly enjoys it. I have to say that like others, I was surprised at how little padding there was. Considering how much this bed costs, I really think there should be more below the main pillow."

"Chose the medium for our 2 dogs, 7lb & 15lbs the bed ended up a bit bigger than expected, but they love it! They wrestle, burrow, sleep & play in it. It has also withstood minimal chewing from our 7lb 4month old Chiweenie.
The exterior & interior is completely washable, the filling pocket comes with a zipper to add additional filling if desired. Thick, attractive material, dogs took to it really quickly. Not sure if it's waterproof, but the water balls up and doesn't sink in.
Overall, we're completely happy with this purchase, extremely well made with excellent quality."
