American Steerhide Grip

Considered the ultimate personal bag, the grip was traditionally always carried by its owner—never checked or entrusted to a porter. This vegetable-tanned leather bag is perfectly sized for a weekend jaunt, an overnight stay, or use it as an airline carry-on. Crafted of vegetable tanned native American steer hide, it features solid brass hardware throughout. In brown. Leather carry-on bag measures 11"H x 19"L x 10½"W. Made in USA.

"I highly recommend this bag. I was looking for a replacement for my well worn Orvis luggage and really wanted an American made bag. It is a little expensive but it is well worth it. I ended up buying a new large Orvis Canvas roller and this as a carry on bag. I can get about an overnight into it and a small laptop. Perfect size for the gym. It only seems to look better with age and use.
Think of this bag as something that will be in the family for may years to come and you would hand this down to you children or grand children. I only had my last initial ingraved on the brass tag just in case I do just that. I really believe that with minimal care it would last that long."

"This bag is beyong compare with any other piece of leather luggage you will ever find. It is beautiful and rugged and to sounds cliche, yes it takes you back to a more artful time. The only down-side is that it is only big enough to be a week-end bag.....and not a long week-end at that. If you are small and have small clothes or pack really light you could get 3nights/4 days out of it, but you would be pushing it......."

"For those of us with a tendency to look back and wish for an opportunity to experience the 'good old days,' Col Littleton and Orvis have provided just such an opportunity. The bag is solidly constructed of suprisingly hardy hides and the attention paid to design details, such as the brass hardware and cinch latch closure, is quite impressive. The bag looks identical to those carried by passengers on a rail car back in the early 1800's.
If you go to Col Littleton's website and watch the video of him packing his #1 Grip bag, you are going to be impressed with the bags suprising capacity. From experience, I will tell you, I have not been as creative as the Colonel at fitting a plethora of items into the bag but, it is certainly sufficient to hold ones necessaries to support a weekends activities...and with a bit of room to spare for a snack or two and a bottle of fresh water!
The Col Littleton #1 Grip is a great weekend/carryon bag and with just four short trips together, so far, I am enjoying mine immensely. This promises to be a long ang close relationship!"
