Rising Lippa for Life
Made of rugged glass-and-nylon composite it secures and holds the lower jaw of any fish with the minimum intrusion. Rounded and enlarged tips prevent slippage and the overall shape fits all mouths. "I found that this product does not perform well on larger fish. When the fish shakes the lippa twists and the fish gets away. It is not rigid enough too stay straight."

"I purchased this for fishing Coho's in Alaska. When you pick up a fish and the fish flops the "lipper" twists and releases the fish. It is not torsionally stable.
I thought it would be a good way to hold the fish while getting the hook out. Not so.
This might work on a small trout but for a 6 - 12 lb salmon it is almost worthless."

My Favorite Fishing Tool - Use the Leash!,

"This is the best set of fishing pliers I've found! Light and comfortable - makes landing and unhooking easy for both large and small fish. Especially great if you do catch and release, as these are designed to do little harm to the fish (the pliers don't close completely, allowing you to retain a tight grip without breaking the fish's teeth or jaw).
One note - these don't float. A large Northern Pike got extra nasty with me while removing my lure and I "spazzed" - I saw them slowly sink down to the bottom. If I had purchased (and attached) the optional leash (or any retractor), I could have just retrieved them and finished the job.
Great design - great execution!"
