Surfboard Hopper

Sandwiched foam, not unlike surfboard construction gives these hopper flies their great buoyancy. Fish this along the banks during hopper season for some great strikes. Cartoon eyes add to the appeal for big fish. Big and easy to see. Sizes: 8.

"Tried this last weekend at my favorite river. This thing is deadly! Could not believe the size of the trout that rose to this fly.
Also love the foam body that never gets waterlogged.

Crazy Fly,
August 23, 2011
By: Joer78
"I've used this on the West Branch of the Ausable River in NY in August in the last two years. The results have been fantastic. I am not an experienced fly fisherman, but find this easy to use. It is quite visible on the water and easy to cast. The brown trout try to kill it, not just suck it in. Over three days last week I netted 15 browns, lost a couple others and missed some strikes due to my lack of attention. I clearly outfishes the other flys in my box. Stimulators, ants, wolfs, etc. all take a back seat."

"I like several features about this fly. First, the foam body really keeps it up with the need for constantly applying float. Second, the legs give it a nice silouette and some action on the surface of flat water. Third, someone with not great vision appreciates the visibility on the water. Pick a color that matches the vegitation along the rivers you fish. I have found that I find green hoppers in areas with green vegitation, and brown hoppers in areas with wheat or brown colored vegitation."
