The heel and toe of our Invincible Extra Socks, the two most wear-prone areas, are designed to survive 20,000 abrasion cycles in laboratory testing. Made in Vermont of the finest merino wool for softness, moisture management, and odor control, blended with nylon and Lycra® for strength, durability, and resiliency to make our socks the best you can buy. A special 1x1 rib knit eliminates bunching and breakdown. In gray, olive, dark gray, tan, navy, black. Three pairs per pack, same color. Mid-calf length. Merino wool/nylon/Lycra. Washable. Made in USA.Fits shoe sizes: M(8-9½), L(10-11½), XL(12-13½).

Socks To Forget When You Bought Them,

"Socks aren't generally something I think about. I buy them and sooner or later (mostly the former), I need to go out and buy another pair when the heels wear out.
I've been wearing Invincible Extras to work now for.... I can't recall how long it's been. Honestly, I've had these socks for at least two to three years and they're still going. I've never had socks last that long.
It's true one of the pairs is starting to wear through in the heel, and will need to be replaced soon. But if they last as long as the others, I 'll soon forget when I replaced them too."

"A few years ago I purchased more of these socks and they were very tight in top of the foot near the ankle, maybe a defect I decided to give them another try since they have always been the best socks I've ever worn. It was worth it! These latest ones are super comfortable!"

"Toes and heel hold up as no other dressy socks do, in my experience (after 4 months & maybe 12 washes). Warm but not bulky. A little pricey, but so far, worth it."

"As you may see I have just reviewed another style of socks that I purchased from Orvis (which were truly great). These are 'Ok' but not great!
What's the difference... well, even allowing that they are designed and targeting different user/usage these socks are tight (whilst being the same size). The first wash (on cold) resulted in them becoming even smaller. This applies to the circumference measurements (ie round) rather than the sock length which doesn't appear to have altered at all thankfully.
At this price one would hope for greater durability and life than 'one wash... then too tight'!
It's a shame as they had great promise (dark colour, great thickness etc).
So, a little disappointed would sum me up!"

"This is my third purchase of these socks in the past several years. The heal and toe of the sock show no sign of wear. GREAT !!
BUT..the weak link is the body of sock which separates from the elastic band. I have lost the use of two pairs due to this problem.
Strengthen this area and you will have a"bullet proof ' sock."

"I bought these for my boyfriend previously. He loves them and asked for more. A polio survivor, he uses leg braces attached to special shoes and has poor circulation in his legs and feet. These socks keep him warmer and provide some much-needed padding. Keep up the good work!"

"After many years of looking and trying, I have found my favorite sock. These will make my third purchase of the this particular item. (9 pr.) I wear it summer and winter because it fits my calf (important to me) as well as my foot. Also, very attractive as far as socks go."

"My wife sent me three pairs of these socks during my first deployment to Iraq in 2005. I did extra laundry to be able to wear them as much as possible-- they were so comfortable and kept my feet dry, even in the incredible heat. I added tan versions to the rotation for my second deployment in 2007-08. From 2009 - 2012, I wore a utility uniform with boots every day for work. Bottom line is that these six pairs of socks withstood hundreds of a wears -- some of them days at a time. With the purchase of these three pairs, I am finally willing to retire my oldest pairs that have finally begun to wear thin at the Achilles' tendon area."

"They are okay socks, period. They are not what was written about them being the best socks ever, in fact "Invincible!" They are not mid-calf and are under sized. They are just an okay and expensive pair of socks. I admit that it must be hard to hype a pair of socks but they over-hyped these and over-charged for them. Nice one two punch. Hats off to the marketing plan but not the socks."

"I love these socks and have purchased any number of them for myself and my son (who likes them as much as I do). The only issue I've had with them is the tendency of the top portion, which is sewn on, to eventually separate from the sock. I imagine it's caused, after many wearings because one pulls the socks on by holding onto that part of the sock. but I've had to throw away several pairs of socks because of it."
