Barbour® Classic Beaufort Jacket
Medium Weight for All 'Round Use. This all–purpose waxed–cotton jacket–33" long in size 42 for all–season wear–has a broken–in, shine–free Sylkoil finish for the ultimate in classic weather resistance. This Barbour waxed jacket features two front bellows pockets with snap storm flaps and two moleskin–lined handwarmer pockets. There is also a concealed zip–up wallet pocket and a full–width rear game and cartridge pocket with side zips. Full length cotton tartan lining. The corduroy collar is studded for an optional hood. Snap–closed throat flap and storm–fly front provide additional protection. Raglan sleeves with underarm ventilation, adjustable storm cuffs, and brass–finish two–way metal zipper. Barbour waxed jacket in olive. Specially treated 100% cotton shell. Cold sponge, no soap. England.Even sizes 36-52. 33" long in size 42. Classic fit. See size chart for details.

"Thought a while about this purchase but glad I did it. Coat is a great fit alone or over a sweater and really keeps out wind and rain. Only gripe is the interior velcro closure on sleeve linings is too tight for coat size; when closed I can't get the sleeve off over my hand. The construction is impeccable and the thing looks near indestructible."

"Have always wanted a Barbour jacket and finally have one. Have found it to be well made especially the zipper and overall stitching. Only problem is that I am 6'3" ad the sleeve length is just not there and a larger size would be too big in the body. Too bad they did not have a "long" size but still recommend the product."

"I have this in original wax finish. It has been professionally reconditioned one time and I have done it myself a couple of times. I garden in this, hunt in it, wear it to the store and take it along as an all around coat when I travel. One of the best garments I have ever owned. Best to layer in cold weather and it can be warm when it's humid but a great piece and a great long-time investment."

"This coat was purchased for me as a Christmas present. Overall, I like the coat very much as it is very versatile and covers a wide range of weather conditions. It took a while to get used to the zipper being on the "other" side from what I am accustom but it is no longer a problem. What is a problem is the Barbour® Warm Pile Waistcoat Zip-In Liner I purchased to add to the coats utility. It zips into the coat on the sides and there is a button snap on the top which is intended to hold the liner in place. Unfortunately, the zipper and snap do not do an adequate job and as a result the coat is awkward to get on with the liner. Given the price of the coat and liner I would have expected much better. The coat gets 5 stars but the combined coat and liner gets 3 stars."

"This is a very good jacket. Excellent quality and style. The only criticism I have is about the zip-in liner. Other similar jackets I have owned have had liners that zipped all the way around. The liner for this jacket zips only about one-third of the way up on each side and is attached by a snap in the center at the top. The result is that the parts between the snap and the ends of the top zips hang loose and tend to bunch up. A bit cumbersome to get on, and at times it can feel that the liner is not sitting right. Otherwise, a very good jacket."

"I bought this as a Christmas present for my husband. Last year I bought one for myself while we were vacationing in Scotland. I loved mine so much I wanted him to have one. This is a great coat for blustery, windy and rainy days. Nothing gets through this thing. I am going to order the optional liner because he wants to wear it during our very cold winters. I use mine mainly for windy/rainy days as I have lots of wool coats for warmth. There is a reason these are so prevalent in the harsh climate of the UK -- they are great."

"This is my second Beaufort . Do not hesitate to buy this, my first Beaufort has given me yeoman service, it's tattered cuffs and lining are at 20 years old, I have to send my friend back to be refurbed and rips repaired, I have worn all seasons. When I bought my last it was just after my best friend died, dad was 97, and he always busted them on me about having one coat for all year, so in tribute to him I now have two! How do I go about sending number one back to be refit? These coats are remarkable for everyday and hunting and spring rain fishing. Thank you Orvis for another example of carrying the best products for your customers and friends."

"I bought this jacket reluctantly. I didn't want to be associated with just another WASPy east coast financier, or some New Jersey mid-day hiker. But alas, I caved and purchased the Classic Beaufort. In it's first Thanksgiving trip, the weather was all over the place. In the blistering cold of a late fall blizzard, the jacket maintained warmth and dryness (with the zip in of the orvis liner). When deer hunting, I shot a grouse and got great use out of the back side game pocket. Later, when the Jeep got stuck in a swamp, and the only way out was to use a come-along for two hours in a cold rain, the jacket repelled mudsling and kept me dry and comfortable. The next day, when shooting clays, the front shell pockets made the whole experience better. The jacket was used, abused, and loved. And that following day, I wore it to the office. This is more than a jacket."

"Got this jacket 5 yrs ago from my sister who worked for Orvis at the time. A little stiff the first year but once it began to break in, I let three other jackets go, as this filled a lot of needs. Looks better as it ages and get comments on it almost every time I wear it. Embarass my girlfriend with conversations about it with a strangers. Can't wait to send it off for it's first rewaxing!"

"Got one of these for my son last November. He wore it home from school on break at Christmas -- it looked like it was 15 years old. The cloth looked worn as could be, and very thin, particularly at the seam in back where the line is that can be drawn in to tighten the coat around the waist. Now the weather has turned chilly and the coat has come out again. Less than a year after purchase the coat has worn through in the back; it's ready for the donation bin. Long and short, this coat is good only for occasional wear, and will not stand up to day in and day out wear during chilly and cold weather."

"Thankfully this jacket comes in size small. It fits well and I got the fleece vest too which is a nice addition. With just one pocket on each side you have the benefit of fewer places to lose your keys, etc. The fabric looks to get dirty easlily as the wax picks up most any lint. Overall very warm and my third season of Fall with a friendly fitting companion for my walks & shooting with my son."
