Oliver Edwards Rhycophila Larva
This is a caddis pupae fly, but it is different genus from the caddis that builds its case and then has to break free of the shuck. These are free-living caddis pupae that live in fast cold water, are big and fat, and are strong swimmers in the riffles. Fish this fly in good, cold, fast water and swing it up through the current. As with all Oliver Edwards patterns, the realism of this caddis pupae fly is not to be denied. Color, Green.Fly in sizes: 12, 14, 16.

"Caught five nice rainbows and two brown trout,and missed six more. This was in a hard fished spring creek.If I had one fly this would be it."

"This fly works great in fast riffles and at the head of pools where these little critters get washed off of the rocks. I like them weighted heavily to get them down in fast water. Be careful, because strikes are easy to miss and drifts usually start and end quickly in this type of water."
