Mays Pond, Florida 2-Day Wingshooting School
Learn the art of wingshooting in a traditional Old South setting. Located just 30 minutes east of Tallahassee, these historic shotgun shooting grounds feature fully-automated traps, a high tower, and a quail walk. The expert instructors at Mays Pond place particular emphasis on pass shooting instruction for quail, dove, and waterfowl hunting. Wingshooting school and shotgun shooting classes are held in a beautifully restored one-room Georgia schoolhouse where catered lunches are served daily.

"The three of us (females) just returned. I want to say how much we enjoyed our class. All the instructors, Bruce, Truel, Don and Todd we excellent. We have all shot before and our passion is upland game behind our goldens. All of us improved and can't wait to get back in the field. Mays Pond is a special place"

"I returned for the second year in a row to Mays Pond. Bruce and Truel are simply brilliant instructors and consummate gentlemen. Progress in technique, style, and results were palpable for all involved. I highly recommend this school for all levels of shooters from frank novice to the experienced. You will not be disappointed."

"A buddy and I attended the May's Pond school 13-14 November 2010. I can't say enough good things about our instructors (Bruce, Don and Truel) or the coaching we received. We both improved tremendously and had a lot of fun. We did a 2 day quail hunt right after the school and not many birds got away! Thanks Orvis!"

"Wow! Great instructors! I had never held a shotgun before and was a little anxious...but with the expert instruction, I was hitting more targets than I missed on the first morning, and feeling comfortable and confident...Mays Pond is beautiful, quiet and serene...I am looking forward to attending class again NEXT year...(Fellows, bring your Lady to this school; she will love it! The school was a "special time" for me and my Beau!)"

"Doug, my son, an I attended the wingshooting school November 4th & 5th 06. I hadn't shot for forty years and he had never shot so you can imagine the apprehension. Not to worry. Bruce Bowlen, Truel Myers, and Peter Kutzer are not only great instructors but also amiable to be around. I regained confidence that at seventy years of age I could look forward to hunting once again. By the end of the second day Doug, and another young man in our group were absolutely smoking the targets! A very rewarding experience!"

"When I arrived at the Orvis Wingshooting School, I knew nothing about how to hit a moving target with a shotgun. Instructors Bruce Bowlen and Todd Garner "built me from the ground up," working patiently and expertly with me until I began to break clays. Two weeks later, I went on my first quail hunt and hit the first bird that flushed with my first shot. I am extremely grateful to Bruce, Todd and the other teachers at my Nov. 11-12, 2005, session at Mays Pond for giving me the basic skill to pursue a sport that I will enjoy for life. They are great teachers and great guys. I hope they are still teaching when my son gets old enough to start shooting."

"I attended the Mays Pond school about five years ago with Dr. T.E. McNeely. I have recently celebrated my 70th birthday and can say that my wing shooting is better now than at any time in my life. Some years ago I was aware that due to aging, my shooting was steadily deteriorating due to slowing reflexes, diminishing eye sight etc. The majority of us are self-taught as shooters never having taken advantage of any formal shooting instruction. I continue to be amazed at what I learned during the 2 day Mays Pond school. It was the best experience for the money spent that I have ever had since beginning to shoot over 60 years ago. I strongly recommend the Orvis Shooting Schools to anyone of any age wanting to improve their wingshooting."

"The only shotgun shooting instruction I have ever received is from Orvis. After my third straight year at Mays Pond, I have experienced a substantial increase in my skill level. Instructors don't come any better than Tom Deck. Don't change a thing."
