"I got these with my fully loaded pack. I thought, great I wouldn't have to buy a nipper for a while. I tried them and didn't like them because you have to press really hard to cut the line with the plastic casing. Get a good nipper made of all medal, it's worth the extra few dollars."

"I have a pair of mini nips that I have used on a few fly fishing trips. They will do the job.... but It took awhile for me to get use to them. They are small and it does take s bit of pressure to get them to cut even 6x tippet. After useing them awhile I got better at useing them. They are o.k. on a lanyard being small and light. But I will buy a different size of Orvis nippers next time."

"I do not like these nippers. I can not get a good cut with them. I have to press too hard to get them to cut all the way through. I am a large man, with strong hands. I do not know how a child could use them. Based on the other reviews maybe I got a lemon. Maybe mine are made differently. I am going to throw mine away."

"I bought two pairs of these nippers; one for my 9 year old son, who is learning to fish; and one for my Mountain Guide Lanyard. They are some of the best nippers I've owned -- a perfect size for the lanyard, and for my son's small fingers. Best of all, they are very economical. Tip: You don't need a zinger for these nippers if you're using them on a lanyard."

"I purchased these along with a mini zinger to attach to my safe passage sling pack. The design is very ergonomic and easier to grip then other nippers I've owned. I also appreciate the small size as they've never gotten in the way or flopped around. My only complaint, and I'm not sure if it's a bad thing, is the action is a bit stiff. That said, it's gotten better wish use and is certainly preferred to a flimsy feeling.

"Fiddly to use. Plastic body creaks & groans (like I did when I first used them). No needle to clear varnish from hook eyes. Spend the extra money & buy the excellent fly fishers snips instead."

"For less than $5.00, these make for a great backup pair of snips on your vest or lanyard. Yes, they are small, but they are easy to use and stay sharp. I have no problems cutting the toenails off of those Adirondack hog browns that I'm use to catching!"

"I'm not sure just what the other reviewer expected of a five dollar nipper, but I couldn't be happier. The blades cut my tippet (up to 15lb test ... didn't try higher) wonderfully, and the wide pads fit my fingers well. The small size is unobtrusive and remains out of the way when on my vest. Ordering two more for friends."

"It takes a great deal of pressure to clip.Too small to handle, even for a lady. Spend a little more and go for the real deal. Don't waste your money on this item."
