Martingale Collar and Lead
This is the most effective, safe, and humane collar we've found that gives you added control over your dog. Safer to use than a choke chain, Martingale personalized dog collars are favored by professional dog-show handlers because they offer much more control than standard buckle collars. Worn loosely, they tighten up only to a certain point to get the dog's attention and then stop—never choking. Nylon webbing. Steel D-ring. Unlike other collars, the measurement taken for the Martingale collar is at the top of the neck, directly behind the ears, to correspond with the size of the collar in the closed position. These personalized dog collars feature quality nylon webbing. Personalize small with up to 15 characters; medium and large with up to 24 characters. Personalization is available on collars only. Thread choices: gold, pink, red, purple, green, blue, orange, white, black. Made in USA.

"I was rather disappointed in this collar. My dog is a definite medium and that is what we ordered. However, to tighten it enough to make it fit, his name is well into the area where it is tightened. I plan to try to find another collar that fits better."

"Disappointed that Orvis has obviously switched manufacturer for this product. My previous purchase of size medium Martingale collars were much more substantial. I own labs and because they are older I will keep these collars. However, the previous collars in the same size were much more substantial - thicker material and an inch wide. Only reason I ordered new collars was due to move and a new phone number. Otherwise, I would keep using my 5 year old collars. If Orvis decides to return to original manufacturer and standards I will probably replace these collars."

"I recently replaced my dog's 4 year old martingale collar with a new one, monogrammed with her name and phone number. The color choices were excellent and the finished product was sturdy and just the quality I would expect from Orvis. The lead was a bit thinner than I would have expected but it is a matching, sturdy nylon that will last for years to come."

"I wanted to order a functional and attractive collar for my Lab that would have his name and my phone number embroidered on it, and that's what I got! The only thing I was a bit disappointed by is how narrow the width of the collar is - we ordered the medium because he's long and lean and it does fit his neck perfectly as far as circumference goes, but I would have preferred it to have been thicker in the width. Regardless, the red is a bright beautiful color and the black embroidery is very clear - it totally works and we're definitely keeping it!"

"This collar has worked out great for my 75 lb Labrador Retriever. He wasn't too much of a puller before, but this collar has helped curb any of that behavior when he sees other dogs, squirrels, etc. I would definitely recommend."

"It has stopped my dog from slipping her collar when she frekes out, but to me it is a lot of money for a dog collar.

"This collar was nicely made and easy to work, but it did not stop my dog from pulling as much as I would have liked. My dog was trained with a chain collar that works in the same manner. The Orvis collar stayed in place better, but the chain collar is more effective."

"Martingale collars are the BEST "choke collars" available. Period. Get one for your dog. When you pull to get dogs attention - done - then collar self-loosens until next need - unlike chains and other "chokes." Enables one to control a dog that might get too frisky. Buy one - get a bright color and have "REWARD (Phone No.)" - NOT pet's name -imprinted."

"We love this collar for our lab. We had his name and our phone number printed on it and the only thing I wish I could change is where the printing starts. If we have to tighten the collar, the beginning of his name gets cut off. It would be perfect if the printing started farther over."

"We have been huge fans of the Orvis Martingale web collar, but their current model now has inferior materials - thinner webbing than prior models and really cheap plastic loops have replaced two of the steel loops previously used. Love that we can have our phone # embroidered onto the webbing; but would not have ordered if we knew it was a cheaply made version. I would rather have paid more for a better made item. Please return to the quality standard one associates w Orvis products."

"I bought this collar to help leash-train a very energetic and head-strong 2-year old dog who liked to pull us along instead of walking beside me. When it tightens, this collar makes it uncomfortable enough for the dog to slow down and stop pulling without choking her."

"I ordered a large Martingale collar for my best friend's standard poodle. I had it personalized with his name and her phone number. Because his neck size would fit into a medium or a large, I ordered the large to get the name and phone number. However, the spacing of the name and phone number seem to be off. The last digit of the phone number is covered."
