Basic Fly Tying book,

"I am enjoying going through this book. He lays out some of the techniques to be used first to prepare the reader/tier. I would highly recommend his suggestion to make a number of EACH fly he presents as it helps to get better until your tying is consistent."
"All what the other rviewer said is true. Even the more experienced tyer will benefit a lot from this book. Maybe the best general fly tying book of today, but not basic!"

Review 3 for Charlie Craven's Basic Fly Tying
The single best introduction to fly tying!,
December 13, 2011
"This amazing book uses a stepwise progression of flies, from simple to complex, depicted in easy to understand steps with great pictures. The explanations of materials and tools are clear and thorough. The choice of flies is brilliant. Learning to tie them in the order Craven lays out builds a complete set of basic skills. Before you know it, if you practice, you can tie just about any fly you wish to use. I read this book, tied flies (that caught fish) from the instructions in the book and then confidently tackled completely different flies. If I see a fly recipe in a magazine or on a website, I can tie it! The thread control and basic skills which naturally result from using this book allowed me to surprise myself. Now I am running out of fly boxes..."
