Hetro-Genius Nymph

The Hetro-Genius Nymph pattern is a unique tie that offers both imitation and attraction through the use of copper wire and pheasant tail body imitating a mayfly nymph, but using the peacock hearl and bead to attract. Fish on the bottom with a high stick or use as a prospecting dropper. Nymph pattern in copper, orange. In sizes: 14, 16, 18.

Produces results when others fail,
July 17, 2014
By: Neusewader

"I've had this little guy for a month now and it has landed both trout and smallmouth bass in the waters of western NC I like to fish. It has been most effective when dropped off of another flashier nymph. The warmer waters this time of year make fishing tough but the HG nymph produces results when other nymphs get passed by."

Good Value,

"Would be better if checked before packaging, 2 of the flies in the batch the barbed hook was not separate. Fortunately I de-barb my hooks but if bought sight unseen, can really make that decision to just send back 2 flies."

"If you need that one nymph that will work in most conditions the Hetro-Genius is that fly. Hetro has produced results on every type of water I have fished, wild, hatchery supported, and undesignated streams."

"I live and fish this fly in N. Georgia mountains, and the Hetro is a consistent producer. Dave Hise created a terrific blend of triggers and nymph-mimicking features in this fly. Durability is superb."

"This is the go to nymph if nothing seems to be biting. The mixture between the male and female looks seems to just draw the fish in. Great fly, but only fish it if you are prepared to reel in the big guys."

"This is a fantastic fly. One of my personal favorites, and go to nymphs. A cross between nymphs that fish are extremely inclined to chase after. The other day i had a thirty fish day with hetro-genius as my lead nymph."

"What more can I say than the review title. I love this nymph. Last time I was out, I got skunked on all of the usual suspects - hare's ear, pheasant tail, etc. Tied this on and had fish on for the rest of the day. My only complaint is that a big rainbow broke off my last one."
