"I have been trying to find a replacement for an old Panama Hat for three years. I take a large size and did not want to compromise on quality. This hat far exceeded my expectations! "I replaced a beloved straw Panamanian with this hat while vacationing in Key West a few of years ago. I've worn it almost everyday since and it shows little to no wear. It is great to shove in an overhead luggage compartment on planes, unroll and don immediately. Cleaning is easy with a little soap and water with tough stains helped out with a soft brush.
I've gotten many complements from other folks who ask about it. I should probably get a little kickback from Orvis having likely help sell a dozen or so of these great hats.
It wears well, is comfortable and looks sharp. Highly recommended."

"As a person with sun-sensitive skin, traveling to the islands of Belize can be a hazard. The Orvis Packable Fedora serves this purpose well, mainly because I can stow it until I arrive at my destination. (large hats on airplanes are difficult to manage).
The absorbent internal cotton headband is excellent; the adjustable feature on the outer headband means I can tweak the fit. The fabric looks like it will hold up well. I have to say that I removed the chin strap immediately. It was going to be an issue every time i put the hat on; found it to be unnecessary. I'd like the brim to be 2.5" instead of 3". It's just a bit unnecessarily wide. Still, all-in-all: love the new chapeau."

"The hat was a gift for my boyfriend.
It fit him perfect plus the material of the woven hat is well suited for the hot dry climate we have in Las Vegas Nevada. Other woven straw type hats dissengrate and dry out and this is the first hat that doesn't do that."

"I really like the hat and the convenience of packing it into my bag when I'm not wearing it. But the brim is a bit small. Could you make another style like the men's Sunbuster hat that has a bigger brim? It's the age of sun protection, you know!"

"I tried it on at one Orvis store and liked it but they didn’t have my size. They called another store and it arrived almost immediately. Good thing because I soon had to be in NYC when the temp exceeded 100. It kept me cool and shaded which is important got me. Even though it has a very useful wide brim, its crushable feature allowed me to unobtrusively put it aside in a restaurant one day and a conference room the next day. I’ve received compliments wearing it with a suit, business casual and “regular” casual."

"I truly loved this hat from the time I first saw it. A friend has the same hat in size large which fit me well so I ordered it in large. Upon arrival I noticed how much bigger mine was and also the brim measured larger. Unfortunately I must return this one. Size seems an issue with this product. I still want one but I must wait to be close to a store to try for right fitting. Better luck next time."

"The quality control for meeting the hats specifications is quite poor. I ordered the hat and was about to return it because the brim was quite floppy. I happened to go to the Seattle store and found one in the same size that fit and with a stiffer brim. Brim sizes range from 3.25 to 4 inches. Size medium ranged from very tight to tight to a good fit.
A very very functional hat despite the variability in demensions. I get complments on how nice it looks."
