"Great hat for warmer weather. Ah, customized it for a woman with a brown velvet ribbon and a feather. Surprised that your hats aren't geared toward woman. I also have 2 of the felt hats that I wear in winter with a long feather too! Everyone seems to notice these stylish hats. Maybe my shooting will improve."

"this is the second snowy river hat i have purchased. a quality and very attractive hat. my only complaint is getting the correct fit with basically only 2 options available. the large/xtra large was too big and the small / medium. was a bit tight."

"This is my new favorite hat. It's light weight and provides plenty of UV protection. I was leery of the size description ( L/XL ) due to my large head but it fits just fine. Plus, it's a real looker."

"I thought this would be a good hat for fly fishing and busting clays. The shape is perfect, the proportion between height of crown and width of brim is good. I wear a 7-5/8" and the extra large fits just right without being too tight. It stayed in place very well during some stiff gusts of wind while shooting trap recently. But I could see where it might give a loose fit to someone who wears a 7-1/4" though. Orvis might consider breaking the sizes down more. If you have an Orvis store nearby you might want to try on several of these as some of the hats I tried had a bit more curve in the brim, possibly due to packaging for shipment. I've only had it a week so I can't comment on how long it will last, but it looks and performs great so I'm very pleased so far."

"This Ovis Hat has been one of my favorites for years. My Original hat wore out from good use. I reordered in 2012 and found Orvis changed sizing from standard to multiple sizes with expanding inner bands. This is less than the quality and utility expected from Orvis. If you really need the smaller of the two sizes they joined together, it won't stay on in the wind and it looks "like a mattress on a bottle of wine""

"Nicely made, good-looking hat, but it fits larger than expected and flares out at the botton along the sides, making my head look much larger than it is. Also the crown is a little short, making the hat sit higher on my head than I'd like. I exchanged the hat for the Vented Panama hat (same size), which fits my head much better."

"I like the hat. It is the style that I was looking for in a summer hat. Not a cowboy style, but, a more sophisticated look. It is very well made with a tight weave to the straw. A nice feature is the plastic insert to prevent crushing of the hat when removing or putting it on.
What I do not care for is the one size all fitting, i.e. cool ban. It cheapens the hat and not in my mind appropriate for a $90 hat. I probably fit right between a medium and a large so the hat has a loose feel to it. Not enough that I can't live with it, but enough to annoy me.
Nevertheless, I like the hat and will fix the fit by inserting a ban on the inside. Something I have to do for some of my other hats."

"This is my third Snowy River Hat. I've been happy with all of them. The straw is of a tight weave that blocks out the sun rays. The hat however would be improved if it came with a stampede string and clasp to keep the hat from blowing off one's head on very windy days. Also I would like to see a more absorbent head band for those days when persperation soaks the headband and stains the straw."

"Quality of the hat is good; but needs better sizing like S, M, and L. I am a 7 3/8, right in the middle of the L/XL and the hat was way too big. Other hats I have bought from Orvis fit perfectly. The elastic sweat band just doesn't make up the difference. I liked the hat, but just couldn't keep it. Manufacturer needs to increase the size range to sell more hats!"

"The photos on line and in the catalogue do not look like this hat. The brim curve is very exaggerated and it looks more like a Texas cowboy hat than an outback. The interior band is cheesey and does not allow for conventional fine tuning. I wear size 7 1/2 and this L/XL must be a size 8 or larger. Build quality is quite good."
