One of the gold standard attracters, the Humpy is a big buoyant trout fly that will float well in the toughest water conditions. These flies work well in big fast water where big trout are instinctively reacting as opposed to inspecting something "big and buggy" going by. The big body of these Humpy flies and extensive hackle keep it high and visible and also make it a great tow boat for a dropper or two. Color: Yellow.Trout flies in sizes: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18.

"When yellow is the color of the day nothighing will out fish this this little fellow. It floats high and is easy to follow. I've caught Rainbows on this fly in Alaska, big water out West and in the trout streams in the Midwest."

"One of my favorite dry flies -- Ilike it with red body also"
"I often fish a few different Humpy variants and colors and can't recommend them enough. They are one of my top 3 go to flies when there isn't any apparent hatch on the water and I'm hoping to create a rise. I like to fish this fly in 14 or 18 depending on the size of the watershed. I recommend having a few in your fly box at all times... you'll be glad you did!"

The "Humpy",

"This is a go to fly for most fly fisherman here in Kentucky. I usually tie my own flies but when it comes to the "humpy" I always let Orvis do the work. It's almost like they wrap kevlar around these flies because they are so durable."
"The yellow or royal humpy are both awesome flies. You can buy them almost anywhere that sells flies but I recomend a orvis one. They are more quality tied and neat. Plus there almost impossible to tear up. Every fly fisherman needs at least one in his box."
"When there is no specific hatch you can't go far wrong drifting the Yellow Humpy. It works well when sulfurs are hatching too."

"This was one of my favorite flies on the Kootenai River in Montana for great visibility in heavy fast water riffles, I used them a lot during the PMD hatch, I had a larger orange floss belly version for the giant organe sedge hatch in late September early October. When a fish takes in the water it was designed for hold on!"
