Ausable Wulff
Pattern developed by Fran Betters on the banks of the Ausable River in the Adirondacks. A versatile prospector, this hairwing fly rides high and dry in rough water and is also excellent for aggressive small stream brook trout, as are many of his flies. Color, Natural. Fly available in sizes: 10, 12 14.

"The Ausable Wulff is perfect for the mountainous pocket-water around my home. It rides high in the water and works great for the local brook trout. I find it works best in a size 14 or 16 for the mountain brooks."

"I fish in the Northwest, and this fly was great this year just prior to run-off. Floats nicley on the water and holds up well after several fish."

" Being a native of upstate New York i have fished the Ausable River many times. Also i have come to love the Ausable Wulff. It has taken me many a large fish in my trips. It not only has the advantages to match the hatch on many rivers, but it has the advantage of being a vary valuable attracter pattern also."

"This is my late spring and summer go-to fly for native trout and streambed browns here in SW Pennsylvania. Early season I use a size 14 then move up to a 16 and the water begins to drop."
