As far back as the 1600's, the March Brown is recorded as being a fly fishing pattern of choice in England. A must-have classic dry fly pattern. Imitates larger brown to tan mayflies, very effective from spring to early summer. If you are interested in tying your own March Brown mayflies, see our fly pattern recipe below.

Review 2 for March Brown
October 11, 2008
The physical picture of this fly is not as I would describe it . Where is the dark rust body and gold ribbing??
This a nice fly but not the March brown.. Seems the flies are being pastelized( I just made up that word) . Look at the Ausable Wullf representation in Orvis... Where is the rusty body of the classic Ausable???The March Brown looks like an Ausable Wyulff though they should look nothing alike!!
I am trying to learn to tie these flies and cannot find ANY consistency in the description or pictures of the flies...
I have been fly tying and fishing for over 30 years and am surprised by what I percieve as a lack of detail in a very detail oriented game ...
Not a good representation of the flies in my opinoin"
