"This pattern is always a reliable go-to for top-water action!"
"I can't keep enough of these. I've got too many of these to count and it's still not enough. What a great fly in East TN. They hold up extremly well to repeated use and abuse."

"Easier to see than other BWO's I have purchased. Hold up well. Catch fish, especially when nothing else seems to be working."

Blue Winged Olive #14,
May 17, 2012
By: Becket
from Southern Virginia
"First, It's a miniature work of art. I have no problems with it on 4WF line and a 7.5 foot leader. It floats well and has drawn a strike. Since I'm a new Fly Fisher, the fact that I can't claim a fish is because I've got to learn to control slack better.
I've learned to expect the best from Orvis and have not been disappointed."
"The BWO is a top 5 dry for me. I don't head to the water without several in my fly box and have had consistent success with it. A must have for any fly fisherman fishing dries."

"I visited the Catskills in May of 2007, and with the help of this fly, I caught eight browns in one day on the Willowemoc and Beaverkill Rivers. I will never forget that and I will never leave home without a few of these in my box. It's well executed, looks realistic, and the feathered wings hold up well."

"The blue winged olive is definitely my favorite fly. I may only be 14 years old, but on the rouge river in Michigan where I fish it has been the most effective on big browns!"

"Yellowstone Park closes the fishing season on the first Sunday of November. Be there about that time and and fish behind the Madison Junction Campground near where the warm springs cause the trout to concentrate. A Blue Wing Olive hatch will come off all day and the trout rise accordingly. Use sizes 16 and 18 with a 6x or 7x leader. Steer clear of the Bison (Buffalo)."

"This is a staple of the small eastern streams I fish, from Michigan to Pennsylvania to the Smokies, it's one of the few dry flies that can produce any time of the year."
