Black Gnat

There are times on the river when you see clouds of small black insects hovering over the water. Inevitably some of these will fall into the water and trout will eat them. Use this black gnat when you see these swarms of bugs in the air and there is no sustained hatch going on. This small dry fly for trout is a great imitator for any dark insect. Color, Black. Black Gnat Size: 12, 14, 16, 18.

"As a novice fly fisherman, I'm glad to find good quality products from a company I trust. I'm looking forward to using this fly when the weather warms up; if I were a trout, I would bite on it!"

Just works,

"Although it's difficult to follow while drifting, this fly just works. Another go to choice for me when prospecting and unsure what hatch activity there is. Great all around fly that seems to get the attention of trout in every spot I've fished."

"I love this fly. Works wonders on trout, and I also use it for bluegills. The fish see it and just can't leave it alone. It's a little hard to see, especially around dusk when the fish are biting good, but you'll feel them hit it, so no worries. Great fly."

"At least for me, the smaller sizes seem to work better, and usually just after dawn or just before dusk. You might think black would be easy to see on the water, but it's not. However the fish do, and that's what counts!"

"You may not see this fly as it drifts past you in that choppy riffle but that 18" native redside will, you can be sure of it! Always carry a few of these in your flybox. "

"I have found the black Gnat to be a fly of choice for use in the high lakes in the Cascade Mountains. It is fun to back into these lakes, and then spend the Morning, and especially the evening hours, picking up the hits on small trout. Hint: if the wind is a problem, walk around the lake, get it to help you using a side arm cast!"
