"I fish the Wissahickon creek when I don't feel like driving for 2-3 hrs. since it's close to my house. I fish these in tandem, one light, one dark, and I absolutely destroy the trout this time of year!"

Proven winner,

"Used the fly as a dropper in one of my favorite spots. Didn't have much time, but less than an hour later,I walked off the river with 3 very nice rainbow trout. The fly stayed together very well for the most part. Lost just a bit at the end,but still fishable. Pretty hard to beat that."

Ran out of my home tied flies,
April 9, 2013
By: Jonez13
"I ran out of my bead heads I tied. So I bought these reluctantly. I have had great luck with these all over the northeast even caught small mouth on them. Great tied fly! I think I'll buy some more"
"As has been my experience with all of Orvis' flies, this is well tied and fairly robust/rugged. This is a classic fly that all anglers should have in their box."

"Used this under a popper, caught lots of bluegill and even a couple of 14" bass on this."
"This pattern is world class. The quality that orvis puts into this pattern is amazing. It is one of the most productive patterns. Do not be afraid to fish larger sizes. Be sure to purchases sizes 12,16 and 18!"
"When there seems to be nothing going on and the water is more then 2ft deep or less then "clear" this is usually my first tie on. If there's a trout around, this guy will find it. They are also quite durable"

August 26, 2011
By: highpockets
"Purchased the prince last week. First day out on the Battle Creek using the Prince I caught 8 nice rainbows within an hour. I could see the trout fighting over the fly. Looking forward to trying it on the Sac near Redding. Great fly and boy where they fun using."

Excellent nymph,
June 3, 2011

"I have caught more trout on this nymph over the years than any other nymph in my box. Time and time again this pattern proves effective even when the trout are fussy. The Orvis version of this fly has been great quality and I would recommend it to anyone. The red string around the beadhead is the best pattern. My best luck has been with sizes 12 and 14."

"This is a great fly and really well tied as are all Orvis flies.
I just wish you offered it with a black bead head also."
"This is one of my "confidence flies". I have always had good luck drifting the prince in the deep freestone streams. On the days when the water is high or earlier in the season, I fish it with a 5 weight DT intermediate sinking line and dead drift with an occasional twitch of the rod tip. One of my most productive days ever was during a steady summer rainstorm and a bead head #12 prince!"

Great Fly for the price,

"Will order many more, as this is a wonderful fly for early May."
"One mid-July I was fishing the trout stream I grew up on and wasn't having much luck. The water was high and coloured. I tied one of these on, let it sink but got nothing on the drift. Then as it went past me and began to rise: bang! I ended up getting 62 specks in the next couple of hours."
