Great Functionality, March 11, 2010
By: Norrin

"This is a great product. One of the things the product description leaves out is the fact that the inflatable neck pillow is removable. Stick it in a drawer somewhere and just put it in when you are travelling. You can leave it in if you want, but it does make the neck area slightly bulky and stiff.

I have flown multiple times in the sweatshirt and have never had a problem with the zipper setting off airport metal detectors. I also like the fact that each of the internal pockets has a little embroidered logo to indicate it's suggested use.

I hope my brother doesn't read this because he's getting one for christmas!"

Liked it a lot until time to pack it., February 25, 2010
By: IvantheTerrible from Seattle, WA

"I really was happy to find this unique travel sweatshirt and wore it on a recent trip to Turkey and Greece. It does all it's advertised to do, but in the end, I won't be bringing next time. It is simply too bulky and with carry-on restrictions, I need it to pack smaller and possibly be waterproof to earn a regular place in my ever evolving travel kit."

He Got It a Month Ago and Hasn't Taken it Off Yet, December 18, 2009
By: WhoopingCrane from Conifer, Colorado

"I got my husband this great 'hoodie' a month ago and he hasn't taken it off yet! To say that it has met all his expectations is an understatement. I'm tempted to buy it in the second color to hold in reserve because when this one eventually wears out, this hoodie will be a hard act to follow. Thanks for making something I could buy for him with confidence!
P.S. He LOVES your shirts too!"

Very Well Done, May 13, 2009
By: Ihatenicknames from Cary, NC

"I am VERY impressed with this item. Everything that you need to travel comfortably. Yes there might be a metal piece here and there, but you will find more on a pair of jeans. I love this sweatshirt and will be buying another to have when my original is finally too beat up to keep anymore."

Good Points & Bad Points, May 6, 2009
By: wrbtu from Long Island Motor Parkway

"First, the good: it's well-made of 80% cotton & 20% polyester & very comfortable; it's very good looking (a combination of two of my favorite colors, khaki & olive green); it has 2 large external hand pockets; it has a zippered under-arm gusset to allow ventilation on warmer days (not that cotton/polyester blocks or retains much heat anyway, so perhaps this is overkill); it has 4 interior zipped pockets of varying sizes (a great touch in a sweatshirt). Now for the bad: Orvis says in their ad copy "Take one intercontinental flight...", but Orvis, are you aware that this sweatshirt has a full METAL zipper? I'm all for metal zippers (I love retro stuff, & it's well-made), but this zipper will cause me to have to remove my sweatshirt at every airport checkpoint! Why would I want to do that? In this case, a plastic zipper would have made a lot more sense, especially since this item is specifically billed as a travel item. That is a pretty disappointing feature. Next, there's the issue of the inflatable pillow inside the neck area. For some reason, even though the ad copy does not say so, I just imagined that this pillow would be the self-inflating type (just pull on a piece of plastic, & it self-inflates). But no, it's not self-inflating, & you must blow it full of air yourself, & that's not easy, because it takes quite a bit of air to do so; I quit when I was half way through, too much effort, & too time consuming. I can imagine how silly I would look (& sound), removing my sweatshirt on an airplane, & starting to blow air into my outer garment, a process which will take the average 59 year old quite an amount of time (& dizziness). Next problem (& a question for Orvis): now that I've decided I don't want to finish blowing air into this thing, how do I get out the air I blew into it? I've opened the plastic cap to the inflatable pillow, & pressed hard on the pillow, but the air won't come out. Am I stuck with air inside this thing forever? More bad: before I tried to inflate the pillow, the material (plastic, I guess) comprising the pillow made a loud crinkly sound, quite annoying. All in all, I'm going to keep this item due to its good points, assuming I can eventually get the pillow to deflate, but I won't be taking it on a plane anywhere, & I won't be using the pillow feature. Orvis, you had a great idea here, but its execution needs some work. Another question for Orvis: I notice that there's a small (one inch) wide zipper in the pillow area; if opened, I can touch the pillow. What is this zipper for? Can I remove the pillow through this small opening (I would prefer to remove the pillow if possible)."

Stunning, April 4, 2009
By: tuckbox from London

"Imagine 20 people on an aircraft saying "where did you get that?" and you have the answer to this amazing piece of travel clothing. The comments came on a flight home from a skiing trip where I had virtually lived in it off-piste.
Warm, flexible, now used on fishing trips, wife wants one (although technically for men (Orvis take note)) this could be one of the all time "killer" Orvis products.

Do it for ladies Orvis and "game over" against anything.

My next long-haul flight (to whereever) will have this on my back.

I can't say more."

Great buy, March 29, 2009
By: Milhouzen

"This is an exceptional sweatshirt with 4 interior and 2 exterior pockets. It is fully lined and warm (not something to wear around the house, but great for walking the dog). I love the leather piping trim and the neck roll. I will be sending this as a gift to others."

At long last ...a JOY to wear and use, March 4, 2009
By: Newshound from Edinburgh (Scotland)

"Being an international journalist, I tend to spend large chunks of my life 'in transit' by air, sea, car, train or even (on occasions) donkey!
I picked up this item in the friendly ORVIS store in Edinburgh (Scotland) and even after one day I KNOW I would be lost without it!
Soft, warm, functional and pleasing to the eye, I am so, so grateful to whoever in Orvis sourced and developed this item.
Really thick material, plenty of sensible internal pockets (we journalists can never have ENOUGH pockets), a great hood with incorporated eye shields ( The airline ones always make my eyes 'sweat') and the most ingenious inflatable neck cushion BUILT INTO a cunningly designed pocket inside the neck-band.
I have DREAMED about such a well-designed, well-thought out jacket both for use travelling, but also on the odd chilly spring or autumn evening.
I unreservedly commend it to ANYONE who appreciates comfort, design and high quality of manufacture.
YET AGAIN - the boys and girls at ORVIS have 'come up' with a winner...get yours NOW before they sell out!"
