Batteries wear out very fast,

"We love this product, however...the item came with the batteries run down. We purchased brand new ones and they have only lasted for perhaps only 2 weeks of half hour evening play sessions. Mind you, the batteries for this item are not cheap, as they're a special and shape.
Overall a great concept, but we are going to buy another brand and hope its batteries last longer."

"I have people regularly stop and enjoy the light show of this ball flying through the air in the dark. It looks great! I am so happy to have something to throw for my Border Collie during the long winter nights. I have tried many "night" balls and this is the first one that has lasted. It is a hard rubber - still easy on dog teeth - and it has a good bounce to it. The only thing to beware - if it goes into a puddle - or in our case - the creek- the light instantly goes out. Finding it will have to wait until morning and it will be you looking for it. The translucent grey color of the ball in the day is nearly impossible for a dog to see. The ball can take on tall, wet grass, just not standing water. Once found it can be dried off and it will work again. It is generally pretty sturdy, but it will not work after you run over it with a truck."

Great doggy toy but ......,

"After a bit of a search found this great toy for winter walks. No more lost balls or so I hoped. Unfortunately after about 10 uses the light started to go out at unpredictable times resulting in a number of long searches with a torch. Decided to change the batteries despite the relative little use and found a little flat thin rubber band covering the circuit board to be split. Temporary repairs and new batteries seemed to resolve the problem. I just now need to try and get a replacement for the flat 'rubber band.
All in all a great product. Every night time dog walker should have one. Just wish I had found it sooner and it would be good if local Orvis shop stocked the item."

"I purchased this ball for my VERY active lab. We play every night after work. After trying other light up balls that eventually burn out, I thought replaceable batteries would be smart. The second time we played with it the cap popped out and batteries and light fell out (in the dark). Needless to say $19.99 was not worth 2 play times."

The Best Toy as the Days Get Shorter!,

"I was worried about playing with my puppy (who needs a lot of play) as the days get shorter, as he needs to see the ball land in order to fetch it (he can't seem to find a ball if he doesn't see it land). This ball is perfect! It is very thick rubber and he hasn't been able to put even a tooth mark in it. He loves this ball and doesn't want to give it up when he brings it back! It allows us to play into the late evening. Great quality product that both my puppy and I are thrilled to have!"
