"Years ago, I picked up a couple of Harris Tweed sport coats from Orvis, during a summer sale like the one they're currently having. These coats are a bargain at full price, but in today's economy it's always nice to catch a sale. I'm considering the brown mix. I recognize the mix from a similar Harris Tweed coat my dad purchased in the 50s. He's still got it. Yeah. Not only does Harris Tweed look and feel great, it just plain wears well.
But there's nothing stodgy about tweed. (The last thing one will resemble is a college professor, unless perhaps one already is one.) I get more compliments on these coats. Winter in the US mid-Atlantic region is no picnic either. When it's damp & chilly, leather is impractical and synthetics don't really cut it. That's when the Harris Tweed really comes into its own. Although winter is yet a ways away, I'd like more tweed in my wardrobe. Hmm, the green multi is nice. Did I mention that the coats are impeccably lined?"

"My Dad lent me a couple of fine Harris Tweeds while I was in college. They were great but a bit large on me. After college I had them altered. Fine except several years later they were too small and I re gifted them. I have looked for years for the real deal and found it lacking. Traipsed all over Manhattan this Christnmas season and what to my wonderig eyes: the gorgeous Highland Tweed at Orvis. Timeless beautifullyy made and an incredible bargain. This Highland sportcoat, a navy blazer a decent suit and a forgiving tailor and you're set for life. And the NYC Orvis store simply the best!!"

A FINE tweed indeed!
"I finally found the right tweed sport coat. I am a very hard sell, I really know tweed quality, as my Dad was a clothing merchant. As we all know, someone bought up the Harris Tweed company, so no Harris is not available easily. Somehow Orvis found this fine tweed and had jackets made here in the USA. I bought a brown one and i am happy with the tailoring, workmanship, and really delighted with the tweed itself. It is wonderful. it has that nubby, tweedy woolly texture and wonderful mix of colors. It is 100 times better looking than the Alt View. A great great product. FINALLY back to real Orvis quality"
