A great fly rod to use when fly fishing in windy conditions. Fly rod features classic light tackle length and flex with the added horsepower needed to punch wind-resistant flies into the wind.

Great Rod, but get the 4 piece,

"This rod is excellent. However, I do recommend that you highly consider the 4 piece over the two piece. I have no complaints about the rod, but do wish I had purchased the 4 piece instead. Both rods perform well, but space is a limiting factor when packing into a backcountry stream or lake and the 4 piece makes all the difference."

Lovely brown taken on dry with TLS 843-2 and Battenkill Large Arbor II

Even nicer Brown taken on same outfit (later in season: note the shade of the cork handle)
"I prefer lightweight rods, but I don’t want to give up length to get it. This rod is extremely light yet is long enough to mend over currents and get to spots that under-8’ 3 wt rods have trouble reaching. The TLS is primarily a rod for 6-14” trout; even so, I’ve landed spring Steelhead with it (see my Battenkill Large Arbor review). The power is there when you need it; and you're not left holding what amounts to a springy noodle. The outfit balances perfectly with a Battenkill Large Arbor II in its attractive reel seat, and the combination looks great. A perfect rod for small-stream trout."

"As I fished the first day of trout season (4/15/06) in Pennsylvania with my new TLS 3 weight fly rod when I realized what a great rod and real I was using. Both the TLS rod and Battenkill mid arbor reel performed flawlessly. I had a great evening landing 12 trout in and running off all the bait fisherman with their spinning rods in the matter of less than 2 hrs. I fished both dry flies and nymphs and this rod preformed like a dream. I realize now what I was missing in my previous fly rods and reels. Everyone one that I have showed my new rod and reel to, love it and comment on how well balanced it is. I also had the rod personalized with my name, which I would also highly recommend (it looks great). I am extremely pleased with my Orvis TLS rod and Battenkill mid arbor reel and would highly recommend it to anyone that wants a quality rod and reel without killing their wallet. "
