Your New Favorite Bag,
November 27, 2009
By:
Otchfrom Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan
"I bought this bag on sale at a loca Orvis store and it is not only my favorit bag, it is one of my favorite pieces of all of the fly fishing items on own. It has the perfect number of pockets for every group of fishing accessories you own. I keep my leader spools in one of the front pockets, my weights and indicator boxes in another front pocket, my fly boxes (and I have a lot) all inside. It even has a special pocket just for my sunglasses. It also has a dry pocket for your wallet, etc., and a little snap hook to hold your keys. One of the nicest features is a rain cover for the bag that is tucked in a back pocket - just unzip and fold out a custom sized rain fly to pull over the bag."

great bag,
September 27, 2009
By:
Dageauxfrom Abilene, Tx
"I was very happy that I ordered bag. Everything fits perfect, even has extra pockets to put loose fishing items in. The way I travel this is a perfect bag. The only thing I found a little off is the pictures of the bag are a little deceiving. There is no pliers holder on the top portion of the bag next to the dry storage pocket. I do like that feature shown, but doesn’t change the fact I like the bag overall."

"This is a super nice pack to throw all of my fishing stuff together. Fly boxes, reels, tippets spools, tools you name it just about everything can go in here. Tons of storage compartments so everything stays organized. Also great for an open boat as the bag plus the fly cover will keep water out."

not quite Orvis,
May 4, 2009
By:
flyguyrussfrom Lake Charles, La.
"First of all I love the size and layout of this bag. I own 2 from a few years ago. They have just a few problems: 1st. the zippers don't like salt water. 2nd. the bottom needs to be less absorbent. Anytime water gets in the hull of my skiff the bag "protecting" my expensive gear soaks it right up. I've had the same problem in drift boats. The bottom should be rubber like the hunting kit bags. (non-marking would be awesome.) 3rd. for the price the material should be Gortex or the No sweat stuff. The rain fly is fine unless your fishing. Anytime it drizzles or you take spray over the side of the boat, your gear might as well be wrapped in paper towel. The entire bag is super absorbent even the padding. Go figure? I don't expect them to be anywhere near airtight but this doesn't quite cut it. 4th. Finally, My bags faded almost instantly. This isn't a problem at all, until I'm traveling with the matching reel case and briefcase. One would think I keep them in the bed of my truck instead of an air conditioned tackle room.
I think these might be the best on the market, but they need to be redesigned.
Not bad, but not quite Orvis."

Bag up with this.,
April 16, 2009
By:
Miktrikfrom London
"This really does hold everything! Rod and landing net, all my gear, along with sandwiches, flask, towel, even stuff my Barbour in there. Caries everything you need for a days fishing without a lot of weight on the shoulder, including a proper protective compartment for your polaroids. I used the rain fly cover today for the fist time and it worked perfectly while I carried on fishing. Safe and dry, zips work very well, perfect for every day use and a Godsend on really wet days."

Pretty Good Bag,
February 18, 2009
By:
SalmonFlyfrom Clinton, MT
"I live in western Montana and fish a tremendous amount. I use this bag constantly. For the most part this is a pretty nice piece of gear. I love the rain fly...has come in handy many times on those rainy days on the river. The dry storage pocket was real nice until the zipper broke (same thing happened to my buddy's). Kind of takes the whole DRY storage idea out of place. The only other thing I'd like to see is a stiffer bottom....a bit flimsy and soft. All in all the storage and compartments in this bag are nice. Can fit alot of gear into this bag."

I like it,

"I keep leaders/tippet material, ferrule wax, indicators, split shot, various floatants, spare spools and reels, and any flyboxes I think I might need in here. The sunglass pocket is easy to access and I find all the zippers work. Lightweight and easy to bring along."

Good functional bag,
October 30, 2008
By:
ChrisBfrom Derbyshire UK.
"Bought this bag over a year ago and the only fault I can find is the pad on the shoulder strap was not fixed so it slid up and down usually in the wrong spot. Quick stitch, job sorted. Apart from that very small niggle the bag is spot on. Big enough for a day on the river or stillwater yet not too big and clumsy to move about as some bags are. I find it a bit pushed to fit waterproofs and food/ flask in. Saying that I don't tend to fish when it's pouring down so that's not a problem to me. The waterproof lid is handy for wallets / phones etc. The sunglasses holder is great for me as I don't like guess how many pairs I've wrecked in the past. All in all a very nice bag. Not the cheapest but 'you get what you pay for!'"

Sturdy and Functional,

"I purchased the previous generation of this product and I like mine so much that I thought I’d put a plug in for this model. It has plenty of room for my waders, reel and other stuff. I carry my boots in a separate bag but they would fit in this bag as well. If you want to condense everything into one tote, this bag is sufficient for the average angler. The Velcro rod tub holder on top is a very nice feature."

Dry storage failed,
May 18, 2008
By:

"When I purchased the Safe passage with Dry storage for $130.00, I was led to believe I would have a reliable bag to keep all my valuables "SAFE". This was not the case. We took a small wave over the bow, and after fishing and returning to the dock I discovered my cell phone, wallet, fishing license, was totally drenched with salt water in the Dry storage compartment. This bag cost me more money in the long run after I replaced my cell and ruined a crocodile wallet. " Extremely disappointed". John wallet that I've had for 10 years."

From Plane to Boat,
January 22, 2008
By:
pescator7from New York, NY
"This bag is the perfect size to carry on to a flight and keep my reels, glasses, fly boxes and rod out of the hands of the baggage handlers. I can fit everything I need for a trip into this bag with room to spare for a pair of shorts and an extra shirt. Once at my destination, this bag goes straight from the plane to the boat. The Dry Storage pocket is perfect to keep your cell phone safe and dry. When I am not traveling, I keep this bag loaded with my trout equipment in the trunk of my car. Its perfect for those impromptu stops on the way home from work."

Great Equipment Trip Bag,
November 12, 2007
By:
Luv2Fly
"This is the only bag that I have found that isn't too big or too small or too expensive. It is just right for carrying fly boxes, reels, and the rest of my stuff for all my fishing trips. Anything bigger and I would carry too much stuff and smaller I would be wishing I had brought another box of flies or another reel. The bag was thoughtfully designed and works very well for what I need a bag for. The only thing more I wish it had is a rubber bottom when sitting in the bottom of my canoe."

You won't believe how much this bag holds,
October 19, 2007

"I've had this bag now for a couple of years and it's fantastic! It has great divider pockets that help sort all your gear. I take this bag with me on all my annual trips to Montana and have never been disappointed with the performance. The most amazing feature about this bag is how much stuff you can cram in it. The outside pockets greatly expand to hold an enormous amount of product. I've had waders and boots on the inside and multiple reels and gear in the outside pockets. I was even able to stuff a XXL Tailwaters jacket into one of the outside pockets because of how far they expand! You won't regret this purchase."

"It's great for everything! I bring on the boat when we go to the Gulf. I alweys take it whenever I go anywhere for freshwater. It's got a compartment for everything you can think of, and it's small size makes it easy to store when you're taking the day off. The waterproof zippers help, too. I've had mine for five years already and it hasn't ripped or torn once. Thanks Orvis for making me the perfect bag!"
