Great Beginner's Rod,

"I just started fly fishing, and I bought this rod and reel outfit to get started. I had so much fun and learned very quickly with this responsive, forgiving rod. The only downsides were that I had to throw away the leader that came with the outfit -- it was brittle and unsalvageable. And the rod doesn't have a hook keeper! How weird is that? But for the price, it's a great package."

Hand fishing for trout!!
"I used this rod on a two-day weekend fly fishing class at Laurel Hill State Park in Somerset County, PA. After being away from fishing 45 years, I thought I might have a lot of trouble 'learning'. The Orvis rods were new, the instruction was excellent and the overall experience exceptional. Everyone had a great time. I waited almost a month before going back to the mountains and bought the rod/reel combo and some goodies to get started. While I haven't caught many fish, the joy of being in the woods and the water and using a rod that feels right is reward enough."

"I bought an 8' Streamline rod 2 years ago and could not get on with it, even after five trips. The line seems to rule the rod, not the other way round. Dropping a line size, to four, did help a little but I hardly ever use it now even for beck fishing."

"I purchased the Streamline 865-2 Mid Flex rod for my 15 year old daughter because of her interest in learning to fly fish. She immediatly fell in love with the action and now outfishes me two to one! The forgiving action enables her to make progressively longer casts with minimum effort."

"I received this rod at Trout Unlimited Camp in Syria, Va. The Camp was given these rods by Orvis. The Camp gave 22 of these excellent rods to all campers without a flyrod. Excellent. Thankyou Orvis for the donation."
