Farmingtom River Brown

"The Farmington River in Connecticut holds some very large trout. I purchased a TLS Power Matrix 906-2 in mid flex a number of years back after casting it at a fly shop. I wanted a stick that could handle the larger Farmington River trout on 5x tippet as well as largemouth bass that inhabit a pond near my home. It handled both very well. Big, heavily weighted Wooly Buggers and deer hair poppers are easy to cast with the TLS. I took it to Montana and landed several trout that took me well into the backing on the Mo near Helena. I was throwing tiny scuds with split shot and indicators on 5x tippet using a Battenkill LA reel. Both handled the job with ease. There were a few times when I thought the 5x tippet was too weak to handle these big trout on a six weight. The rod is very forgiving in that none of the 5x tippet parted under stress. I love the entire TLS line!"

"My 9ft 6wt TLS powermatrix is amazing i no longer struggle to cast in windy conditions. this rod lets me know when i make a good cast because i can feel the rod load and on the forward stroke the fly shoots out there and rolls over nicely and the fly settles to the water gently usually followed by an explosion of a nice trout or salmon. I can fish Flies as small as a 22 BWO or a nice big juicy size 10 or 12 Humpy with no problems it will also cast Nymphs with split shot nicely Just really a great all around Fly Rod. Orvis has definetly got a winner with this Mid Priced Fly Rod. It has a lot of similiar features as there higher end models. I can not wait to buy my next Orvis fly rod. AWESOME!"
