Sockeye (Red) Salmon Surprise
"I bought this rod for an Alaska fishing trip I've been planning for over a year. I already had an 8 weight for salmon so I wanted a nice 5 weight for Rainbows and Dollys. I just returned from Alaska last week and am pleased to say this Orvis rod exceeded my expectations, and I had very high expectations. The castability under all conditions was superb and the feel of the rod enabled me to detect the slightest hit, yet handle everything I managed to hook, which included countless trout and a few surprise Sockeye Salmon that I was told were too big for a 5 weight rod. Luckily nobody told Orvis their 5 weight couldn't handle 10+ pound Alaskan Salmon and I was able to land some beautiful fish I wasn’t even attempting to hook! Thanks for a great rod Orvis; it provided me with the best fishing I've ever had!"

"My mom got this rod for me about a month and a half before I came home for midtour leave from Iraq. I got back to Colorado Springs, CO about the middle part of August and there at home was my rod waiting in its great looking tube. My mom had the rod personalized with my rank and name. ( the rod looked ten times better in person).I finally got out to the South Platte River and put the rod to the test. The rod was a first time go in my book. I could actually feel the line load and the cast were on time and on target as us artillery men would say in the United States Army Field Artllery. I landed three trout over 18" in a six day period of fishing and the rod proved its self tough. The rod was a dream, a dream that came true. I would recommend this rod to anyone who is learning to fly fish."

"Being new to fly fishing, I purchased this rod based on a friends recommendation. After just a few sessions I found it very forgiving and easy to place my flies where I wanted them to go. I could really feel the line being loaded and was able to shoot line as if I was a veteran fly fisher. I expect many years of enjoyment from my Orvis TLS Power Matrix 865-2! T D. Edina, Minn"

"You can’t go wrong with this rod, I took it up to the Crooked River (central Oregon) today and had a blast! Very smooth, plus the power to land an 18” and a 20” Rainbow. I love this beautiful green rod. Thanks Orvis and keep up the great rod making!"
