Ian's Crane R

Ian's Crane R

Another Ian Colin James fly, this crane fly pattern can be fished wet or dry. It represents an emerging crane fly and if you see those anywhere near where you're fishing, you should have this fly pattern. Ian dances this crane fly on the water, fishes it wet on the swing and dry as well. Color, Tan. Fly in sizes: 10, 12, 14.

Looking for a "One Fly" pattern?, September 23, 2008

"This is the kind of pattern that does it all. Do you ever get sucked into a "One Fly" competition? Well if you do...you may want to think about this one. It's deadly."

Who said swinging was out of style???, July 5, 2008
By: corkedrod from Muskoka

"This fly has got to be my favorite to use on moving water. I am tied to still water and do use this fly with success as a straight wet, but I love to swing this fly through the current allowing the flow to do the work. I dont know what it is, the fish just seem to hammer the fly. This is an amazing pattern which I seem to only ever fish wet even though I know its a great dry.."

Insane Crane, July 5, 2008
By: WildFly from Toronto, Ontario

"Wow! yet another fantastic pattern from Ian James on the Orvis site, and cheap too! I have fished this fly countless times on the Grand river with great success for Browns. Ian's Dry flies always out fish any other dries I have ever used and am often left short after handing out flies to frustrated anglers.

This is the only crane fly I carry in my box of dries. Beautiful pattern, but be sure to have different sizes."
