"I purchased a white one a couple of years ago and got many compliments on it. When a label says "hand wash" I usually wash in the machine on the gentle cycle. When I washed this one in the machine it frayed so much I had to use the scissors and trim all the edges. I finally had to get rid of it but did not return it as I did not follow the instructions. I liked the top so much that this time I purchased it in two colors and now I wash them by hand and they still look good. I would recommend this but caution to hand wash."

"I had seen this item for awhile and finally purchased it when I was visitng Chicago, Had never been to a Orvis Store.- Loved the Store. Lace trim is beautiful, but when I washed the item for the first time the button holes started to come undone, took it to my alterations lady and she redid them. It's beautifu but take a look at the stitching to be sure you don't have a problem, this might have been the only one. But I love it and woudl buy another."

"It fits nicely and is comfortable and flattering. everyone comments on it. I bought it in white and ivory and would like it in black as well; I'm debating, since it is a little expensive. I just washed the white one for the first time and it seems to be okay."

"Very very soft, gorgeous drape and perfect length. I'm a little busty with broad shoulders and wide hips so it is tricky finding tops that flatter my figure without being clingy. I don't like anything touching my tummy, so I can relax and still look good. The cut of this presents a very feminine shape. It is not binding in anyway yet flatters the curves beautifully. I hate ironing so hang this up damp and smooth it out with my hands."

"Brought this because of all the good reviews but had nothing but trouble, first one of the button holes was not finished and I had to saw the corners, then a button fell off whilst I was wearing it for the first time, then the edge around the neck near the shoulder started to fray. Have several other tops and always been happy in the past in fact I have 3 blouses that are 6/7 years old and still look as good as new so was surprised when I had trouble with this last purchase."

Response from Orvis Customer Service, July 23, 2009 Orvis apologized for these problems but feels that this experience was an aberration, especially in light of the many excellent reviews that have been received, plus the customer's own experience with other Orvis blouses. However, Orvis contacted the customer immediately and, naturally, offered an exchange or a refund.

"I ordered one in black. It's BEAUTIFUL. I'm an ''XL'', and it's often difficult to find something that looks "right" once I've tried it myself compared to how it looks in the catalog. This hangs and drapes wonderfully, is super-flattering and I am ordering one in white as well, right now! This is something that will never lose it's style, is a wardrobe basic, feels as good as it looks and while a bit pricey, will certainly get worn a LOT. And since it's from Orvis, I've no doubt it will hold up well. Don't hesitate on this one."

"First I bought this blouse in white and loved it. It was so nice that I bought another in coral. Really loved this one, the color is lovely, but......the edges of the lace frayed in several places when it was washed the first time. I trimmed off the frayed threads so I could wear it again, but I'm concerned that over all this blouse will not hold up well after a few more washings if this lace continues to fray out. If it were a much less expensive blouse I wouldn't mind so much. Really wanted to get another one in black, but am waiting to see if perhaps the design changes a bit."
