nice to look at but not to use,
January 22, 2010
By:

"Orvis once again has a great idea for a product and it's appearance is #1. The organization of the material leaves a lot to be desired. State by state would be nice and while the book is compact it is too small. 8x11 would be better and would not be that difficult to use or carry. Loss of detail in the smaller book. Material contained is good but would be more useful with better organization and more detail. Skyhawk"

Not primarily an Atlas,
January 16, 2010
By:

"We ordered this item thinking it was primarily an atlas. Turned out to be primarily a book with mostly note pages and small maps in the back. Should be described as a nice note book with bonus National park maps. Small as they are.
Orvis didn't make that clear."

Nice Gift,
January 8, 2010

"I have purchased all of the books in the series for gifts, except the AT. They are a high quality books and interesting to read.
As others have indicated, they are very small and really sit on the shelf more than actual use. I would buy them again for a high quality gift, but i do find them to be on the expensive side and have never seen them on sale!"

"We purchased this as a gift for our daughter who recently moved to Montana. She is loving all the opportunities that come with living in the part of the country. She was most excited with this gift. She is an avid writer and journaler. The beauty of the book only added to her excitement."

Very good atlas,

"Bought this as a gift for a friend who hopes to visit all the national parks. The book is small, but this is helpful in packing. The maps are quite good, and complete. I added a high quality, packable magnifying glass with the gift, which helps with legibility. The recipient was quite pleased with the gift."

High quality but,
December 17, 2009
By:
DaleDKfrom Long Island, NY
"I got this for my husband whose dream once was to visit all National Parks. This is a very high qaulity book, smells of leather, but the price matches the quality. It's expensive. That along with the fact that the print is too small, we decided to return it, feeling although it is lovely, we probably wouldn't get much use out of it."

Appalachian Trail and National Parks Atlas,
December 15, 2009
By:
thejeddhclassicfrom Raleigh, NC
"The leather and personalization on both pieces was excellent.
Shipping and arrival was super fast even with the embossing.
Great value for money.
The Appalachian Trail Atlas has blank pages in the front, which I didn't really see advertised on the website.
The National Parks Atlas is filled with maps and does not have any blank pages.
I would buy these again and others in the series."

Overpriced!,
December 10, 2009
By:
Fishdiaryfrom Cape Cod
"I purchased this item with a monogram as a gift. The overall appearrance is nice. The size is smaller that most people would find easy to read. The book does NOT have blank pages for journaling as described. With shipping and monogramming added I would have to say this gift is way OVERPRICED. The receiver would never believe how much you paid for such a small thing... Nor would they want you to spend so much. It is definitely not worth the money."

Maps very difficult to read,
December 2, 2009
By:
KDH31
"I ordered the National Parks atlas for my dad as a gift. Unfortunately, when the atlas arrived, the print was so small I could barely read it. Although the return policy is relatively easy, I am now out $13 for shipping costs. Pay careful attention to the dimensions. Details of many of the parks-- like trails-- are not visible on most maps. I recommend taking a look in the store before ordering."

Atlas,
October 24, 2009
By:

"I ordered the Atlas for a birthday gift for my son. When it arrived it was monagrammed incorrectly (on the back of the book and upside down!) I had to return the atlas to have it corrected. I missed my son's birthday, because when I returned it the email I got said it had to be back ordered 2 weeks later!! I was very disappointed with the service, but when I finally received the new product I was pleased. Although my son's birthday was ruined, I will give it to him for Christmas, and then I will have him review it."

less impressive than hoped,
December 26, 2008
By:
cfb1155
"I asked for and received the National parks book as a gift and while I found it to be attractive in its initial impression and quality, I also was a bit surprised that it was so small. While it's dimensions are clearly noted, I find the maps and the written font to be difficult to read. I guess its size makes sense from a portability perspective, however its usefulness is limited as a result.
A bit pricey for what it is."

A great gift idea!,
October 16, 2008

"I have now purchased the atlas and 2 national parks guides as gifts, each one has been personalised. I was so impressed by the quality of both items, and would thoroughly recommend them to others!! I know that there are negative reviews about too many blank pages, but rest assured both the atlas and the national parks guides are primarily maps and info, very few (if any) blank pages."

"This product may be inappropriately titled to give the false impression of field quality guide. I had the luxury of buying it on site and realized that its more a journal with maps than anything else. That being said, it made for a great gift for a few of my friends that had either hiked the AT or were planning to hike. Overall, the quality of the product is excellent. Well bound, beautifully present. Its a classy gift that will make quite an impression"

"The national parks book is great, but in the interest of full disclosure, the rocky mountains book is 140 pages of BLANK "travel journal" and about 60 pages of information. SKIP THIS ONE unless a journal is what you are looking for"
