This is the TOP-grade fatwood. These sticks have the highest concentration of natural pine resins, making our Fatwood the fastest-lighting, hottest-burning kindling ever. Strike a match to just one of these 12" sticks and it will ignite in an instant, burning long enough to kindle even stubborn logs. It's earth friendly (no living trees are harvested in making it). An excellent gift for anyone with a fireplace or woodstove. Note: Fatwood is sold by weight, not volume, number of fires may vary. Sticks may be broken in half for twice as many fire starts. 4.5 kg. canvas sack.

"I agree with the other reviewer that it is extremely difficult to break some of the sticks into two: the Orvis reply did not make any comment about anything they might do about this problem. I am about to order a new supply, and would like to know in advance whether there is any chance of providing shorter (half-size) sticks."

"product amazing, does exactly what it says, easy and quick to light a fire, but...... that is only after you manage to break the sticks into two pieces.....not so easy! Had to use a small saw in the end for the the thicker sticks as they would not break, well, not without sustaining an injury!!!!

Why not sell some little appropriate cutting instrument with them???"
