Functional and attractive, November 4, 2009
By: Batteryman

"This gate was the best I could find on the web and we are pleased with it. It is as attractive as good furniture and is perfect for our young Yorkie who is proving difficult to house-train. Be advised that the height of the gate is smaller than the photo makes it appear. It might not contain a larger, active dog. Also, the width adjustment takes a screwdriver, so it is not conveniently adjustable for different doors during the day. However, it is sturdy and has nice rubberized feet that make it stable. Perfect for our purpose. As to shipping, it arrived well ahead of schedule and was a snap to assemble."

"This gate is everything I was looking for. I just had new carpet put in. And it is a saving grace to keep my doxie away from it. And fortunately the poodle mix does not realize he can jump over it. I can step over easily. And it looks great. Thanks"

Fabulous item!, June 20, 2009
By: jazygal

"After attempting to put those pressure gates together with barstools keeping them from "popping apart", and tripping over the height, I discovered this gate. Not only is it gorgeous and went together in 4 minutes, but it's low enough to easily step over and looks like it was built in to my kitchen. I have 3 small dogs and they cannot tip it over. I LOVE IT!!!"

only for the dog that doesn't want in, February 22, 2009
By: jeni

"The gate is very attractive. We have yorkies and the puppy can climb over the pet gate. Also, the 3 older yorkies can open the gate by pushing on it. If dogs that weigh under 10 pounds are able to manipulate this gate, I cannot imagine how it would be useful for larger breeds. We are disappointed as it is difficult to find an attractive pet gate."

Attractive but not fit for purpose, November 26, 2008
By: veryfrustrated from Chester, UK

"Unfortunately my 12 week old border terrier pup sees this as no obstacle. She easily jumps it. So unless your dog is obedient and doesn't want to get past this gate, you will definitely need something a lot taller. Then again, if this is the case, you probably don't need a gate.

Orvis will offer a refund, but shipping costs for something this heavy are around a 3rd of the purchase price."

Worth every penny!, May 2, 2008
By: Glass from Michigan

"This gate is fantastic! I was looking for a wide gait that is reasonably attractive - no small feat. I ordered this gate in the wider size and have been nothing but pleased. It is *very* well made and sturdy and does indeed stand alone without the dogs being able to knock it over. The only negative about it is it does not fold for storage, but it does exeed my expectations in every other way and rates a full 5 stars."

Problem Solved!, March 25, 2008
By: Wishbone

"We bought this item as a room divider for our 3-1/2 year old Doberman. We had recently moved house & had to stop our dog entering a 52" opening from our kitchen to the dining room. If your dog understands that a barrier means no entry then this is a great accessory to have. As well as looking attractive its easy to contain your dog in one room while you step over it to enter another room, which is out of bounds to your dog.
My only critisism about this item is its stowability, It can be quite cumbersome if you don't have a large enough space to stow it !.
All said though, a very attractive & good solution to keeping your dog out of areas of the house that you don't want them having access to.

I would recommend."

Wonderful Design, March 12, 2008
By: RescueMom from Burr Ridge, IL

"We have this gate in the small and the large and find that they both blend well with our home as well as have the heft needed to keep the gate in place in most instances.

The legs on each are long enough that the gate doesn't tip and the ability to adjust the sizing is easy.

The only point to consider would be using this gate on non-carpeted floors if you have dogs that are intent on moving it (think stubborn, determined young terriers). You could put something heavy on the legs to keep it from moving or stick-on rubber padding on the bottom of the legs which is found at most hardware stores.

The height is great if your dog respects gates while allowing you to step over it easily. The corners are rounded a bit which helps to prevent some dinging of the walls as you move it.

Overall, it is a quality gate that much more attractive than most on the market."

best gate around!, November 9, 2007
By: nan6 from wisconsin

"I would TOTALLY reccomend this gate. I bought the "best selling" gate first and my young pup (a field spaniel) had NO problems moving it. This gate, however, really stays put and is a life saver (and a living room saver)."

Great gate, October 15, 2007
By: tibbiemom from Tigard, Oregon

"Cannot say enough about this gate! We bought the large one and divided it into two parts to block two doors. The former baby gates we used drove me nuts, but we can easily step over these. They don't scratch wood floors or fall down. There is nothing to attach to the walls or door jams. This is my favorite purchase of this year!"

Who’s office is it?, October 4, 2007
By: PASpark

"The quality mixes in just right to have as part of my downtown Palo Alto office, and the corgis MBJ and MGM can have a bit of interaction with the hall office mates, well at least gazing down the hall to attract some attention. A great addition!"
