Great for Picnic or Camping, January 27, 2010

"It's a great little grill, easy to set up and use, reasonably easy to clean, and lives up to its promise of the outside surfaces remaining cool so you can use it on a wooden table if necessary. Follow the instructions carefully. Place steaks, hamburgers, etc. directly on the [dark-colored] grill surface; use the rack for special purposes covered in the directions. Note: The charcoal needs to burn a half hour for best results. The grill surface will be at least 700 degrees (F), so be careful. I used it in 20 degree (F) weather with a cold wind blowing at about 12 knots and got good results, allowing extra time for the cool conditions.

For fuel, I tried both Kingsford Match Light charcoal and Kingsford conventional charcoal (I ignited the latter with Diamond "Strike-A-Fire" starters, available at grocery stores and camping supply stores). Both systems worked well. FYI, cooking times were about 50% longer than when using a "conventional" charcoal grill, but of course the cold conditions may have affected these results.

Try the Cobb grill at home to become accustomed to its behavior and cleaning techniques before relying on it for camping in the wilderness.

I am completely satisfied with my purchase."

Exceeded Expectations!, June 29, 2009

"We used our Cobb Grill for the first time this weekend on a camping/fishing trip. The Cobb cooked our fresh-caught trout perfectly! We also cooked hot dogs, warmed the buns, and cooked a can of chili on the Cobb and all cooked through well and tasted delicious! We were really amazed most at the cleanup--as the chili spilled on the grill rack but it was non-stick so it just wiped right off after cooling off. We could zip it up in its carry-case and throw it right in the back of the car easily. Overall, I give this grill TWO BIG THUMBS UP! We love it!"
