Not good product.,

"We bought this last year and are just now getting to wear it given the time of year we bought it last year and where we live. For the price, WOW!! is this ever OVER-PRICED. The material frazzles off and it is not durable to say the least. $225.00 is entirely too much to pay for this one. We do not recommend."

"Bought as a gift for my husband, he lives in it, actually has apologized for wearing it too much, as if I would get sick of seeing it. He really likes it and I think it looks great on him."

correction of turtle neck floppiness,
March 5, 2009
By:

"To get rid of a floppy turtle neck on a sweater, wash the sweater in cold water. Do NOT put in dryer. Instead spread the sweater on a flat surface and let dry. The floppy neck will return to its original state of firm support and will look good."

One major flaw,
February 17, 2009

"This is a comfortable garment and it fits me nicely, even in the arm and torso length which is very difficult for me. My complaint is with the turtleneck collar. I was expecting a nice firm structure with a snug (not tight) fit, but I'm quite disappointed in that aspect. It has no elasticity and tends to stretch and sag quite heavily under its own weight. Even on the first wear it looked almost like a woman's cowl neck instead of a man's turtleneck. I'm sad to say that because of this I've hardly worn it at all. I might recommend, but with reservations."

Orvis Customer Service immediately contacted this customer and apologized for the sagging turtleneck collar on his sweater. Orvis thanked the customer for providing this feedback and recommended another review, which offers the following advice: “To get rid of a floppy turtle neck on a sweater, wash the sweater in cold water. Do NOT put in dryer. Instead spread the sweater on a flat surface and let dry. The floppy neck will return to its original state of firm support and will look good." Great idea, but needs some refinement,
October 19, 2008

"I ordered an XL Tweed Cable Turtleneck (olive) into my local Orvis shop to try out for size. Impressions: 1. Great idea - love the chunky merino (Not enough of this around.) 2. Looks very nice, I really like the neck, the flecked colour and the cable design. 3. Fit: It was overall slightly too small for me, and in particular, not long enough vertically, so it tended to ride up my back when bending forward. I checked the size of an XXL and it was only 1/2 inch longer, so there was clearly no point in ordering that instead. I have suggested to Orvis that they come up with a tall fit version, or at least reconfigure their regular fit one. I have quite narrow shoulders and it was still a bit on the close side there. 4. Feel: The collar is not quite as soft as promised, or compared with the pure merino/cashmere zip sweater (could that be the nylon component?) 5. Finer points: The elbow patches are perhaps superfluous. In my experience, with this style of jumper, it's the sleeve ends and the collar that tend to go first, so this is where reinforcement is most needed."
