New and improved fishing chest waders for more comfort and durability than ever. We moved the seams at the inside of the legs to the back of the leg to save wear and tear that comes from the legs rubbing together. This means your fishing waders last, and you stay drier longer. Our all-new exclusive double-weave condenier fabric is also far lighter and stronger than the original Pro Guide 2, so it wears more comfortably while it resists punctures better than ever. We added the same lightweight, 100% waterproof stretch material found in our Tailwater XT uppers to the top of these chest waders for a better fit. The top easily folds down for more comfort when you're fishing on hot days, from a driftboat, or when wading shallower water. Imported.

Bad move on Pro Guide III waders,
March 3, 2010
By:
combatflyfisherfrom Six years of guiding N. Georgia & N. Carolina
"After sending in my Pro Guide III waders for repair or replacement, which took a total time of 7 weeks to get new ones of the same size, I am totally disappointed in the new ones!!! I sent in size med. 10-11 stocking foot. Orvis has changed manufacterof these and now to get the shoe size I had to get size Large 9-11. I've now have more wader than I know what to do with. But the stocking foot fits. And then some . They are not 'anatomically sculpted' like the old ones, ( or what is advertised ) the gravel guards are now neoprene instead of the wader material, and are just cut. Not stitched or welded. I am absolutely disappointed in the product from the new maker of Orvis waders."

"As others have stated, these are nice looking waders but that does not help the fact that the Stockingfoot on the waders are H U G E !!! Much larger than any other waders I have had. There is at least an extra inch and half past the toes. Large enough to be uncomfortable at any length of time and hardly fit in my boot. Box says 9-11. . . Don't think so. . ."

"Purchased last years wader at a discounted price. Salesperson was great. Tried on 4 pairs before making my decision. Like the design of the attachment mechanism for suspenders. Also has plenty of well placed pockets. Purchased Large Long 12-13. Only drawback is they're bulky. Wish it came in 32" - 34" inseam."

Non-Anatomic,

"These are nice waders, and I would've kept them if my feet were shaped like Webster's Collegiate Dictionaries. I mail-ordered a size Large/Long. The shoe size was allegedly 10-11. I wear a size 10.5 shoe. The booties were huge. I could barely get them in my wading boots. I checked the box to be certain that they sent me the size 10-11. That's what the box said. Of course, they could've been the larger size in the wrong box. Since these were mail order, I didn't feel like paying for shipping back and forth to find out that they shipped the correct size, but they are just too big."

"I needed some waders for a fishing trip to western NC. These were on sale but were out of stock at my local store. The sales person helped me decide on the right size and then he found a pair at another location and shipped them to me before Christmas. These waders were perfect. Very comfortable and warm."

Best waders I've owned,

"Son bought these for me. last christmas 08 didn't get to use them as my old waders still had some life in them. Till fall of 09, to my surprise they were to large in fact i could fit another person.Orvis exchanged them with no problems 11 months after they were purchased . Fished some local ponds after receiving the exchange they were comfortable and easy to clean wich has become an important feature recently in our local rivers. I like the waist high feature works out well."

"I've only had a chance to wear these new waders just one time. To be honest, after reading some of the reviews I was a little hesitant. But Orvis has a pretty good rep so I thought I would give them a try. The initial comfort and fit met my expectations. The quality of material and workmanship seems quite satisfactory to me. Not that anyone should care, but I thought they looked pretty good too. No leaks first time out, with a good 4 hours in a 350 CFM river in upstate NY. This is a step up from my neop's . So far so good. I'll provide an update soon I hope. bills"

"I've owned these waders for two years now and I have to say that they are the most comfortable waders I have ever owned or worn. The quality and functionality cannot be matched! Unlike other reviews I have never experienced any leaking anywhere on these waders. I fish at least 150+ days a year and trust me my waders have been through a lot, they've frozen in the winter, been through rough trails along the river side, and I haven't had any problems. I even fell in the Middle Provo River in Utah in January (8 degrees out that day), floating through rapids at least 20 yards in length and NO water went past my wader belt. I reccomend these waders to anyone looking for great value and quality."

Worth It,
November 9, 2009
By:
Loopyfrom Girard, PA
"I received the Pro Guide 3's free of charge from Orvis after some faulty issues with my Tailwater XT's. That alone was a tremendous bonus. These are the most comfortable waders I've ever worn. There's enough pockets to hold the essentials; car keys, cell phone. I've worn them a few months for some serious Lake Erie steelheading and they are so far bulletproof. I took a nasty fall over a tree trunk and slid down a gravelly bank in pursuit of a fresh run steelhead and the waders held up perfectly with nary a scuff. Go out and buy these waders."

Sad to say...,
November 9, 2009
By:
A111from Va
"These waders have so many great features but the unfortunate one problem I have had is with the bootie and that kills all the positives. The type of binding or tape used on the seams creates excessive bulk in the toe and that results in a VERY uncomfortable fit. I have worm them on three or four trips and the only way I can keep them on is with NO SOCK plus removing the insole of my boot. This combination provides just enough room to permit moderate comfort but in 40 degree water, no socks results in very cold feet. As a company, my experiences with Orvis have been great but it looks like I'll have to find a different source for waders. BTW, local store sales people are tops! If you consider these waders you better try them on with your boots prior to the purchase. And take care...a larger size will result in an even greater excess of material which only adds to the problem."

Durability of Pro Guide,

"Dear Orvis, first allow me to state that I am a huge fan of your company and service. I own your Fly Rods, Sunglasses, clothing and a lot of gear. However, while fishing this weekend in deeper water, my Pro guides leaked right in the crotch seam. I plan to use seam sealant. Nevertheless, these waders are replacements for a previous pair of Pro guides that leaked. In both cases it is not abuse. I feel that you should know that the design may be first class, but the longevity is very poor for this price range."

Finally, a good fit,
November 6, 2009

"I own four pairs of waders. This is the only pair that provides a good fit for my feet. Nothing is worse than spending a day with the combination of too small neopreme booties found on most waders, heavy socks, and boots and/or fins numbing the toes. These waders are great because not only do they provide left-right feet, they have ample sizing (12-13) and a generous fit. I also like the fact that the suspenders can detach. This is a great feature if ever you had to repair sewn-on suspenders due to a broken plastic buckle."

Great Waders,
October 27, 2009
By:
Darriiousfrom New York, NY
""I’m a first time buyer and have had a rather exhausting experience dealing with Orvis but I must say that it was all worth it towards the end. Although a long story and no sense in getting into, what I can say is that the employees at the Orvis store in NYC are top notch. Don and management were probably one of the most helpful individuals that I could ever ask for. They were incredibly understanding and helped me get last minute gear, even when the store was already closed. Thank you again Don and management for stretching the clock and making my trip complete. There is no way it would have been as comfortable if you guys didnt help.
Now as far as the waders go, they are great. Perhaps I lucked out, but I wore them for 12 hours a day, 5 days straight with Henry Fork wading Boots and haven’t had one problem. After reading all the reviews, I did at first think that I had a leak but later realized that my feet were just cold from not having enough layers. Double up on Merino Wool socks and you should be ok - comfortable all day and a great fit. I’m about 6'1 and 190 pounds. The Medium/Long was a pretty good fit. My average shoe size is anywhere from a 10.5 – 11 and I highly recommend that you get a stocking foot size in the 11-12 size. You will thank me later for the extra room. I tried on the 10 - 11 size and although it was snug, it didn’t offer much wiggle room and wasn’t as comfortable. As far as the boot goes, Orvis recommends that you get the same size boot as your foot, or in my case a size 11. I’m not sure if all the boots run the same size, but I got a 13 and it was just right - but lets not forget that I did layer the socks and if you plan on salmon or steal fishing, you should definitely make sure your feet will be warm. If you want to go with a size 12 boot, you might not want to get a stocking foot that has an 11-12 size - it will probably crunch up in your shoe and feel very uncomfortable (the first shoe that I tried on was a size 12 – it was from a different manufacturer but I still believe that I size 13 was best.) Bottom line, I feel that you’re better off with more room than less room in your boot. And as far as mobility, I probably took a 45 minute hike and felt great. Overall, I have not had any problems yet.
P.S it took me 5 days but I finally caught a keeper. 18 pound stealhead almost 35 inches in Pulaski NY with an awesome group of fishing buddies. Cheers!""
