"Bought the smallest size for a hard to fit entry area and it's perfect. So perfect I came back for a 4x6 for in front of some french doors. Nubs get stuff off my shoes easily, but more importantly, creates a nice area for having my dog sit down while I clean/dry him off before he leaves a trail down the hall. Oh yes, also got the round one for under the Christmas tree stand. . .I'm becoming a little obsessed with these! (Now if it just came in a 2x4 size for another odd-shaped entry, my life would be complete.)"

"I don't have a proper entry way. This rug in 3 by 4 size lets me bring the dog in house from the snowy outside, have him sit, and dry him off. It looks really nice in the house and is low enough so that the door clears the rug easily. I bought a smaller size first and like it so much that I bought this second one."

"I have two dogs who constantly run in & out of the house, so I figured this would be a great way to both keep the floors clean & prevent them from slipping on the floor when wet. These mats are great! I didn't realize just how much grass they were bringing in the house till I saw it all on the mat. Very easy to clean. I know it says to hose the mat down, but since all we have is dead grass on the mat, a quick run of the vacuum solves that problem. In my opinion, the mats are a tad bit pricy, but pretty much in line w/ other places that I've looked at. Plus, you get a greater color selection. They seem pretty durable, so it's worth it."

"I have never written a review, but this merits same. I don't have dog problems, but was needing an entry way solution for my cabin, mainly to cover some stains that were driving me nuts. This 3'x6' was the really perfect solution. It is not too industrial for a simple, but new cabin. It stays where it has been laid (little spikes on the underside). I know I can hose it off and it will be good as new. Again, not industrial. LOVE IT. Thanks,"

"Overall the trapper mats are pretty great. We bought 2 of the larger size and one of the food/water mats and have been pretty satisfied. They keep muddy footprints off of the floor and really work well. The only issue we ran into is that one of our dogs chewed the edges off of one of the mats. We tried talking to some one at customer service about returning or exchanging the mat but were told it does not have any kind of guarantee for chewing/durability and we would just have to purchase a replacement. These mats work but they're pretty pricey so we won't be able to keep purchasing them if there's no chewing protection... so keep an eye on your dogs!"

"We just bought this doormat for the rosewood hardwood floor entryway of our townhouse. Within days, our dog had an accident and and urinated on the mat.
I called Orvis to find out how to clean the mat (I see there are instructions online as well). We took it outside, squirted it with dish soap and used the hose to wash it off. That was easy enough. Then we hung it to dry and we couldn't believe how fast it dried.
We also really like the red/black color we chose. It matches our hall runner/area rug very well.
So far we are very pleased with this product."

"I have 2 big dogs -- a Lab/Dane & an Akita/Rottweiler who clock in at 120 lbs. apiece -- & expected to love the Water Trapper mat. I've recently bought a house with dark cream-colored carpets, & a 3x5-foot Water Trapper seemed like the perfect alternative to a steady stream of muddy footprints. But after testing the mat for about a week, I'm definitely disappointed. It looks fine & feels soft underfoot, but does virtually nothing to take mud off the dogs' feet . Unless I wipe down their feet with a towel first, the muddy prints are as bad as if the mat wasn't there at all. And if I have to use a towel, there's not much point in having a $100+ (with shipping) mat. The fibers aren't stiff enough to scrape the dogs' feet or soft enough for their pads to sink in. Maybe the Water Trapper is great after walking a dog on pavement in the rain. But in Los Angeles, where it rains 1 or 2 weeks a year, the real issue is heavy clay soil tracked in from a damp yard. I'm baffled by the person with the 2 Great Danes who has a drainage ditch in the yard & loves these mats -- is mud not actually muddy where she lives? I'd also gotten a small mat for my back door, & am reluctantly returning both. Orvis, please keep working on this product -- there's definitely a need."

"I've put this on the sole of my sailboat's cabin where it's protecting the wood and keeps our shoes cleaner when we go in and out, as well as the yard crew's that occasionally track in lots of sand working on the engine or head.
Seems rather expensive so expectations of years of use are high
It should be a good additional given that moisture won't harm it, and the way it brushes deck shoe soles off is very nice. Attractive in blue in this case."

Huge Paws - No Problem!,

"We have two Great Danes and a drainage ditch that runs the full length of our backyard. This ditch has slow-moving, silt-laden water in it 24/7 all year-round. Much as we are devoted to our Danes, their love of running through the ditch and then wanting to come inside made it impossible to keep our beige carpeting and tile floors clean. Invariably, their huge paws trapped black, sludgy goo and then left huge prints throughout the house. Not good. I read the reviews and decided to spend the money for two 3x5 mats. Now when the Danes come in, I tell them to stand or sit on the mats for a minute before entering the rest of the house. This wicks away all the moisture and dirt. The fibers, although short, are very effective at pulling out the mess they hold between their giant toes. I am left with paw prints on the matt, which easily vacuum up without a hint of the devastation that these matts averted! Better yet, guests to our home comment on how nice our new "rugs" look--the gold color matches our wall paint exactly. These matts are workhorses, clean easily, and look like great home furnishings to boot. I'm sold on this product!"

"I ordered two 3' x 5' carpets to place in front of the glass sliding door to the back yard and the door from the garage. With three labrador retrievers, the carpets capture much dirt, sand, and mud and take the edge off of what is brought in from outside. What I love about them is that they vacuum beautifully, and the dog hair comes right up. They look nice on my porcelin tile flooring and do not slip or move when walked on. I would hightly recommend this product."

"I started with one mat for the front entrance to my house and am now up to about 6 of them. They work everywhere - I use them where I have a dog or muddy boots entering the house, cats tracking kitty litter, or laundry falling on the floor of my garage. They don't move, they're low so there's no tripping over them, and they're unobtrusive so you don't notice them, just the fact that the house is a little cleaner."

"I bought the 2X3 and 3X5 mats for my RV. I do not want to spend my vacation(s) sweeping or vacuuming. These mats are great for catching dirt, dust and mud from my very active grandchildren and a Labrador retreiver. The mats can be carried outside and shaken or hosed off. But even though they are utilitarian, they look good too."

"Living with two Newfoundlands in Humboldt County where it rains four months out of the year...these work!! Our dogs are 10 and we've tried everything to stop them tracking mud in and I hated to pay the price for these, but they work! We bought the pretty blue color shown and it looks very festive on our garage floor. This is where they enter before coming into the kitchen and onto ivory colored tile. Our tile is still ivory several days after mopping and laying these mats down. Normally it would be a lovely shade of mud within hours of mopping. We bought two of the 3' x 5' size because the round a corner before entering, so we needed an "L" shape. What else can I say...they work! Now if they only made a product for keeping giant black balls of fur off of my carpet!"
