Superfine Tip Flex Proves Self in Wind,
June 13, 2009
By:

"I broke in my new 4wgt 7'6" Superfine Tip Flex on a windy and high Gardner River in Yellowstone recently. Lined with RIO Selective Trout DTF It not only handled short roll casts with a nymph rig extremely well, but also was able to push longer casts into a stiff 10-15mph headwind.
I am sure I have much more to learn about this rod, but as a user of many other Fast rods, this fast rod seems about perfect for tight conditions found on small windy streams."

"I recieved my new 764-4 trout bum and had to try it out this morning. This rod was shooting a #20 griffiths gnat into a breeze, like a rocket launcher.I couldnt be happier with it.Matched up with a Battenkill BBS II Reel, its a great small stream combo."

Unbelieveable!!!,

"I bought this rod today and went to the backyard to fish it. Caught a few nice bluegill. I have never bought a nice expensive fly rod and I tell you the difference between this rod and the others I have bought (for around $50) is amazing. The casting is great! The design is beautiful! I went to the Orvis store and tried out several. This is a super great rod and I highly recommend it, especially for those who have stuck to low end, low price rods, there truly is a difference! Plus you can not beat the unconditional warrenty!"

Best small stream rod.,

"I own a 20 year old 8’ 6wt. Superfine and always enjoy casting and catching with this rod. I also had the Superfine One Once 6’ 5” 2wt. great rod but sold a few years ago. I went to an Orvis dealer to buy a new rod and tried out the new Helios and T3 ( I actually cast the T3 better.) I was using the 81/2 ft 5wt mid for both and really liked the casting of both, then I tried the Superfine 7’6” 4wt tip flex for fun and was blown away with the casting. Great distance, feel and accuracy. I was casting almost as far the Helios. (not on water and no wind) Now to be Fair, I have a slower casting style, someone who has a faster, the Helios would be your bread and butter. But for fishing S.E. PA with smaller streams and creeks with a lot of trees and cover, the traditional “western” style rods are useless go smaller, way overkill unless you use one on the Delaware River. I paired this rod with the gold Battenkill Large Arbor #1 which looks great. (Just put 75yds of 12# backing) Next day went to Bushkill creek for some stocked trout and had a blast catching. Used a size 10 bead head wooly bugger and had no problem casting with this heavier fly. It is absolutely the best rod for creeks/streams/small rivers. try it and buy it!!! You will not be disappointed."

Best Rod,

"I thought I would be able to write the first rave review about this rod, but "flyangler" beat me to it. This is a pleasure to fish. It is accurate and it has a delicate presentation, but, he left out the two most important words "with ease". This rod can do it all, close or far with delicasey. I also bought the CFO ll, Conservation Edition Reel to go with it. A great combination."

"Finally a fast action Superfine. I have always wanted an Orvis Superfine but I have grown to prefer faster action rods. Well, Orvis granted my wish and made a great addition to this classic rod series. It is a pleasure to fish, accurate, delicate presentations with to ability to shoot some line if needed. This is my new favorite rod. Great job!"
