"I purchased this for my dad as a gift. We both fly fish and I had high expectations for the amount I was spending. While the product looks nice and has some good features, the overall quality is not what I expected for the price. Delivery took a long time and I had to chase up Orvis via email."

Poor quality,

"Unfortunately I cannot agree with the previous reviews. The box arrived with a wrong name engraved - frustraiting, but not a problem (Orvis has the best Customer Services team who are ready to solve any problem and offer a good solution). The quality of the product was not what I expected for the money I paid (£67). The colour of the wood is much duller than in the photo, the hardware (hinges and the lock) look very cheap. The little boxes inside are good though. Disappointing."

Too Nice!,

"There is no question this is a beautiful piece and well made. My problem is, it's almost too nice and a tad too big for my taste. This will end up just sitting on a shelf somewhere. Too bulky in vest and i question what will happen to the wood after seasons of getting wet. Again, a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Just too nice for the rigors that my gear goes through. If it wasn't for the fact that this was a gift and is engraved, I'd exchange it for sure. A $140.00 (with engraving) fly box is a bit too much in my opinion."

"Just now received my Christmas gift from a generous son in law...and was even more impressed with the box and the man! What a wonderful gift. I can't wait to put it to its intended task...then display it proudly in my den. Orvis should be proud of this fly box. I am."

Flies that fooled particular trout this past year
"I'm at an age where my family wonders what to get me on gift-giving occassions. Sure, they know that I can use as many flies as they can tie but now that the boys are young adults themselves, they like to get me something I wouldn't get for myself. Last Christmas they surprised me with this; my name engraved on top. I add 'memorable' flies to its compartments so that I can relive those moments and talk them over with fellow fly-fishers. A special gift that looks great."
