Great Sweater,
March 16, 2010
By:
Stonewallfrom Virginia/Maryland Area
"This sweater is extremely well constructed. Lined to stop the wind. Tightly knit. Top quality zipper. Great trim fit. (completely different fit than the more generously sized, and looser knit Barbour Sportsman Sweater) On a cold day, this is the sweater to have. I agree with other reviewers, it can be a bit warm to wear inside. This sweater has become my favorite winter sweater. I expect quality when I buy a Barbour product. This sweater delivers."

Best winter knit sweater,
January 27, 2010
By:

"I have the Barbour Storm Half-Zip in the Loden colour. I absolutely recommend the Barbour Storm to anyone who needs a classy yet rugged lined sweater. The design and knit quality is exceptional. The cuffs and hem will keep the cold out. It retains tradition because it is Made in Scotland. I doubt there's anything else on the market that can match it."

One great sweater,
August 4, 2009
By:
Randyfrom Zebulon, GA
"This sweater is rugged enough for the Wisconsin Grouse woods and warm enough for the New Mexico sand dunes chasing Blue Quail. With a shell over the top and a Viyella turtleneck underneath, you can comfortably hunt in any weather. It's stylish enough for the ball game in the middle of winter and my wife likes the soft feel. This is a winner as a gift for your hunter or just because you want it for yourself. You will not be disappointed!"

Great Sweater,
July 17, 2009

"I received one of these sweaters for christmas two years ago. I now own three with proabaly a fourth coming. These are no doubt the best sweaters I've worn here in New England. I need a couple of these for work or social getherings and a couple that I can beat up while hunting, shooting, fishing and dog traing. If Barbour ever decides to discontinue this item, call me first so I can buy them all!
Buy this sweater - it is worth every penny"

Wonderful Sweater,
February 14, 2009
By:

"I received this sweater (in navy blue) as a gift and I am blown away! I am now saving to buy it in the color, "loden." I live in Wisconsin and, even with our Northern weather conditions, I can wear this sweater over a long-sleeve button up or even just a t-shirt 4 out of 5 days in winter. I feel it is the perfect addition to my wardrobe and my wife says it looks good as well! 'Nuff said."
"Combine this sweater with a Barbour Beaufort jacket and there is no weather condition you won't be ready for. This combo has taken me through -30 degree weather (in the sun not counting wind) to pouring down rain in the mid 30's.
The sweater is smart enough to wear in any business environment where casual is permitted.
The biggest negative is part of this garment's strength. It gets a bit warm in this piece if the temperature is in the high 60's. So it's not a great house sweater unless you are keeping the thermostat down extra low.
Also I was sorely disappointed with the placement of the leather patches on the sleeves as they are just a tad off center, thus my elbows are resting not on the patched area, but on naked wool. Still its so tough of a fabric it might not matter.
Were it not for the Orvis iron clad guarantee, I wouldn't chance keeping a sweater this expensive with patches that are just an inch too far off center to be practical.
Standing 6'1" the Orvis sales mgr was shocked when I picked out an XXL since the XL was plenty big enough to fit. The XXL was truly a bit bigger than than what would fit me best, but as expected, with just one wash and dry, this baby has shrunk up a bit and I expect with another wash and dry it will be a near perfect size. Buy big.
You won't find a better sweater with more warmth and versatility and with the Orvis guarantee you can rest assured that you have made an investment that will pay dividends for decades to come, thus making this perhaps the lowest cost sweater you may ever purchase."
"I live in New England and this sweater is by far the nicest sweater I have ever owned. It stands up to the wet and cold New England weather better than I could ever have imagined. It's expensive but in this case, you do get what you pay for!! Buy it - you'll never regret the purchase."

An excelent choice,
November 11, 2008

"I have worn this sweater for two winter seasons and it is the best sweater I have ever owned. It is warm, very wind resistant, looks great and wears well. If you plan on being inside your going to have to take it off because it is warm. On a cold, damp, windy, rainy day, this sweater worn underneath a trench coat will keep you warm, dry and looking good. Buy it, you will not be disappointed."

Great sweater, awkward fit,
October 16, 2008
By:
sfoguyfrom San Francisco, CA
"This is a great sweater, no doubt about it. Only problem, for me at least, is that fit and the way the collar is. I'm 5'11" , weigh 194 pounds and wear a 41 regular suit. The size Large which I ended up going with is spot on with the sleeve length but a bit snug in how it fits me. Not a generous fitting sweater at all, which is something I was expecting. The collar is a bit frustrating as each time I lean forward, the collars flap up. Other than those two comments, this is a great sweater to purchase as it's a great weight and provides good warmth and wind resistance. Also, I have not had a chance to test the water resistance properties yet, but I am confident the lining will keep me dry. If you're a bit shorter than me, this will probably fit you just perfectly!"

Cold, Rainy and Windy Days,
October 16, 2008
By:
FrankVfrom Miami, Fl
"Here in the South, winter usually means cold, wet, gray, windy and just plain miserable weather. This sweater is the best single garment I own that neutralizes all of the above and looks good doing it. It really resists water and wind keeping you bone dry and helps retain body heat like no jacket I've ever owned. I saw a brown one in the NYC store, but they didn't have my size. One word of advice, order one size larger than normal as it can be a little tight around the chest."

"I've owned this sweater for sometime now and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Extremely warm but not bulky at all. It nice enough to wear to work on casual Fridays but also rugged enough for a round of sporting clays. The quality is what you would expect from Barbour. I look forward to wearing it out...20 years from now!"

Warm and Comfortable,
November 27, 2007
By:
Illinois
"I bought this sweater to use in San Francisco, but the weather was too nice. I have used it back in Illinois during the cool, windy and rainy days of November. It is indeed waterproof and stops wind without any problems. I have found it comfortable to wear in the house, car and outside either walking or just pumping gas. I have read other reviews talking about spontaneous compliments and didn't think they were true. I have gotten several compliments on the sweater."

Light and toasty,
November 3, 2007
By:

"Sweater is excellent in quailty and warmth. Wore it today playing golf. Temp in high 40's with wind and initially light rain, while wearing only a turtleneck shirt beneath it, I was comfortably warm. Light rain for first two holes. Stayed dry. Sweater is not bulky making it ideal for Fall/Winter golf. Lining in sleeves is a little baggy adding a couple of seconds putting it on but not a problem once on. Although UPS shipment is advertised, UPS passed it over to USPS for delivery. No siginficant delay though."

Simply the Best!,
October 11, 2007
By:

"Let's start at the retail store front located in Pasadena, CA. A+ The customer service provided was excellent. Store employees acted more like store owners and share holders with their attention to me as a customer and their polite demeanor. It has been 5 weeks since I purchased my Barbour storm sweater and aside from a suit and tie during the day I have not taken off this Barbour sweater. I live close to the ocean and the sweater keeps me warm and dry. As I travel inland the temperature rises and as this sweater is wool it somewhat moderates my body heat and does not get to hot! We experieneced some rain for the first time this year last week and I was out in it testing the claims of my Barbour and Boy!! did it live up to it's rep. I was in the direct rain for at least 20 minutes and stayed dry!! I mean dry!! I am purchasing 2 more Barbour sweaters this weekend!! I am 35 and as these Barbour storm sweaters may be unavailable in the future I want to ensure that I have one the rest of my life!"

"Beautifully made sweater, very warm. Interior is lined with a slippery nylon material makes it easy to slip over other clothing. It's sized towards the small side so i would advise ordering one size larger than you normally wear."
